This is the fifth installment in the Dresden Files Series.
I found it hard to put this one down.
The war between the Wizards and the Red Court Vampires is still going strong. A War Lord Vampire from the Red Court by the name of Ortega comes to town, to challenge Harry to a duel in order to end the war. It's to be a duel to the death. As usual this is not the only distraction that seems to be facing Harry at the time. His ex-flame Susan has come back to town and he has been hired by a priest to he

I really like this series.

I read a lot of Young Adult literature for my job and it's really nice to be able to pick up a Harry Dresden novel once in a while to remind me that there's a more adult side to the reading world.

This novel follows the Kights of The Cross as they are searching for the Shroud of Turin. There's also a plot line which includes Harry and the continuing war with the Red Court, teh worst of the vampires. And on top of it all, the love of his life, Susan, returns to say a fin

Another fun book in the Harry Dresden series. This time Harry is recruited by a priest to find the shroud of Turin which has been stolen and brought to Chicago. He's also challenged to a duel by a vampire, facing off with demons and dealing with the return to town of his former girlfriend Susan. I enjoy the humor in theses books along with the continuing development of Harry and all of his friends. After the last book it was nice to take a break from the world of faeries. ...more

A solid 3.5 stars, but not quite a 4 in my opinion.

This book starts up approximately where the previous one had ended. The war with the Red Court is still raging, and Harry is still in quite a bit of danger. Oh, and apparently the Shroud of Turin has been stolen. Sounds about par for the course, eh? ;)

Some interesting stuff form this novel in list-like form:

Harry Dresden is back in this novel full of non-stop action. Not only is Harry dealing with the war with the Red Court Vampires, but some bodies have shown up that have been killed by a force stronger than anything he has ever faced. Throw in Susan showing up again and a missing religious artifact and you have a book that barely gives Harry or the reader time to catch their breath. The multiple story lines and non-stop action left me a little dizzy and confused at times. However, I was impressed ...more

I haven't found much time for reading recently having a preschooler and a new baby in the house. This book gets a fourth star from me for pulling me out of what might be my longest reading slump of my life. As always, it's Harry Dresden vs. the world and all the assorted demons and nasties Butcher can think up. Still, bonus points for Butcher that he is a fellow Missourian. In any event, I'm finding the series to continue to entertain even though it is outside my usual reading. So kudos to my mo ...more

This one hardly seemed resolved at the end. I guess they really do start running into each other. I love Harry, his attitude, and his trouble-making big mouth.
