This was the sixth installment in The Dresden Files Series and I could not put it down.
Harry has just come out of a recent mess of a case where he has found himself stuck with a stowaway puppy when Thomas approaches him for help on a case.

Great continuation of The Dresden Files series! These books truly have gotten better with each novel.

This one is one of my favorites so far for a few reasons. First off, Harry seems a little less whiny in this one. He's matured over the novels for sure. Also, Thomas (one of my favorite characters!) is featured prominently in this novel, as is Murphy who had been a bit neglected in previous novels. It was good to see her back in the action.

Harry finds himself chasing down what appears to be a mal Great continuation of The Dresden Files series! These books truly have gotten better with each novel.

This one is one of my favorites so far for a few reasons. First off, Harry seems a little less whiny in this one. He's matured over the novels for sure. Also, Thomas (one of my favorite characters!) is featured prominently in this novel, as is Murphy who had been a bit neglected in previous novels. It was good to see her back in the action.

Harry finds himself chasing down what appears to be a malocchio (a curse, or "Evil Eye") at the request of Thomas. This brings him in contact with an "adult film" producer and the actors of his latest film. There were definitely some laugh out loud moments, especially in those scenes. I still chuckle when I think about the scene where one of the male actors is trying to decide on his "stage name".

And of course, Harry never has just one problem to face: in addition to figuring out what is going on with this curse, it appears the Black Court vampires are back in town. These are the real mean, undead, extremely strong vampires-- they're not pretty like the other courts and they don't want to be.

There were definitely some exciting resolutions to the stories in this book, as well as an interesting question regarding the coin Harry had buried under cement in his cellar in a previous book. We'll just have to see what happens in the next book(s)... ...more

This book develops Harry's character a bit more than some of the others. One of the themes is family and what it means to have family or not have family. Murphy is dealing with her family and the pressure they put on her to live up to their expectations, Thomas is dealing with being on the outs with his family (we get to meat his father and sisters) and Harry is coming to terms with not having any family left. Dresden is hired by Arturo Genosa, who makes adult films, to find our who set an entropy curse on him that is killing women close to him. Harry also is being attacked by the vampire Marva and the Black Court and is trying to find a way to take her out. There are lots of developments in Harry's family situation and we get more information about Murphy. The book has a great opening scene which leaves Harry in possession of a puppy, later named Mouse.
