Johann Sebastian Bach: The Learned Music is a detailed biography of this great Baroque composer and keyboardist. The stories and insights about Bach’s early life and career were interesting and engaging. The rest of the book was often tedious and boring. There were too many passages detailing financial matters and analyzing musical scores. This information is only useful to one doing serious research on Bach. Overall, this is a good reference biography and is useful to skim for anecdotes.
