Loved it. Another quick and compelling read, like the first novel. Will be moving onto the third novel shortly, rather than waiting so long like I did with this one.

Firstly, I don't remember what happened in book 1! Only that I enjoyed it and can vaguely recall the ending. Even as events in that book were referred to in this book, all we needed to know was that they were catastrophic and things were about to go even worse.
As with all multiple POVs books, it takes me some time to settle and enjoy the reads but as, at least, 1 character/perspective was vaguely familiar already and the others so easily likeable, this took a bit less time. The plot was a totall ...more

I didn't like this one quite as much as Leviathan Wakes. But considering that I loved that one, not liking it quite as much still means that I enjoyed it. It's got a similar plot (maybe a little too similar) but this time it's scarier because we know what the protomolocule can do. It took me a little while to warm up to the new POV characters but the second half moved much more quickly for me than the first.

I loved this book. The characters are wonderful. We so rarely get female politicians who are powerful, openly ambitious, and self-reflective about their machinations. We also get another fabulous female character, the big and touch Bobbi Draper. I hope that these are characters who continue to have presence in the rest of the series. I enjoyed the first book of this series; I adored this one. I'm excited to read more books in this universe. Maybe I'll even watch the tv show.

Definitely like this one better than Leviathan-- the characters, the plot, the story arc. Have a few bones to pick which I'll elaborate on in a longer review when I'm not on my phone, but overall I liked this lots and am moving smoothly on to the 3rd installment.
