I don't think this is a book that I would've picked up on my own initiative. The cover looks so very cute and it's set in France so really, I would have felt, yea, maybe... then gone on and forgot all about it. Thanks to the publicist at MacMillan Australia though for sending me a copy because I so loved reading this book.

This book is built around the fanciful idea of a group of people whose calling it is to send books out into the world, where each one will, presumably, change someone's life. It was never really clear to me how the "passeurs" are supposed to choose the books or the recipients. And, in general, the story doesn't hold up too well to much scrutiny, but it doesn't really need to.

I bought this book in an English-language bookshop in Paris and it seemed a fitting purchase. The book is the story of a young woman in Paris going about her daily routine and feeling listless, then discovering something of a whimsical/magical bookshop with a team of people giving people just the book the person needs.
