I love Rainbow Rowell but this felt like a poor man's Harry Potter. It wasn't bad and there were some likable characters but you can't try to create something on a Harry Potter scale and do it in one book.

This is my second book by Rowell and I was happy that it was just as witty as her first. Rowell can really create some great characters and Simon, Penelope, Agatha, and Baz...are just that. They are really fun characters.
Although I loved the characters, I found that the plot and story pacing were was not as strong as I hoped it would be. I went from not wanting to put the book down to forcing myself to pick it back up again. There were parts that I really loved and then parts where I was bored. ...more

This might be my new favorite book. I don't know how Rainbow Rowell continues to do this to me, but she does. I love every book I've read from this author, but I was a little hesitant to read this one. I loved Fangirl, but I honestly wasn't drawn in that much by the Simon Snow segments in the book. The idea of a book based on Harry Potter fanfic just didn't seem that appealing.
