I enjoyed this continuing story of teenaged Bella and Edward, the vampire she loves. This installment of the series was sad and heartwrenching at times. I find this young adult series to be surpisingly compelling and emotionally intense.
New Moon finds Edward feeling that Bella's life would be much happier and safer without him. He decides to leave her, and convinces Bella that their relationship is over. Bella believes that Edward has tired of her, and she is devastated. Bella is hardly able to ...more

I like to think I'm too old for YA stuff, but for some reason this series has captured me. Maybe it's my addiction to vampires or my schoolgirl musings of true love...or maybe it's just damn good storytelling! I do wish that somebody warned me that this book was a lot longer than the first one! I read like a demon to get this one done in a day and a half. As with Twilight, it took me almost 200 pages to get interested, and I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be until the last three chapte

I'm surprised to say I'm totally on the Stephenie Meyer bandwagon. I really didn't have an interest in these books, didn't know any of the story, but finally decided to see what the buzz was about.
My inner 17 year old is in heaven. There's nothing like a new love, and Meyer is wonderful about capturing those feelings of hesitation and exultation at the start of the new relationship. In New Moon, we see the devastation with the loss of a relationship when Edward wants to protect Bella's soul.

I think New Moon is a stronger book than Twilight. It deviates from the female protagonist, Bella Swan, constantly being saved to a position where she actually saves her boyfriend - and even though the author portrays her through the entire book as being obsessed with Edward, it does show her cultivating other relationships and interests - all in all, it makes her look a lot more healthy and well rounded of a character than the previous novel.

Read this again while I listen to the “Twilight in Quarantine podcast. It’s still terrible but it’s fun to read along and listen to them make fun of it all.
This wasn't as good as Twilight but of course I still read the whole thing. Bella's level of despair at Edward's departure is way over the top even for a YA novel but I'm sure I'll still read book #3-I'm a sucker I guess. ...more

I'm enjoying this series -- very light and entertaining reading. I thought this book was a bit better than the first book and I'm looking forward to reading the next two in the series and to seeing the movie version of Twilight. Perfect reading for a train ride or plane trip since it flies by and you don't need to concentrate much.

Well, I didn't enjoy it as much as Twilight. This one had significantly more whining from Bella. And, what is it about her that men (and more than men) can't resist?
Good story. It does actually make me look forward to Eclipse, which I'm told will tell me more about Carlisle's life. ...more

20/07 - Currently getting sick of Bella's drama but must persevere!
23/07 - the last few paragraphs were the cheesiest paragraphs I've ever read. Why is everyone so enamored with Bella when she's a whinging excuse for a girl? ...more
