Oh god, I thought I'll never read this book. Then I bought it for my cousin, it was her birthday. And she kindly lent it to me when she finished reading it. Oh boy, how glad am I that she did!

I'm aware that I'm pretty late to jump on this train because this book's been trending for awhile now. The whole series, in fact. I kind of didn't want to read it because it's so popular and I was scared it wouldn't live up to my expectations. But it did. God, it so did!

At first, I didn't like Celaena becau Oh god, I thought I'll never read this book. Then I bought it for my cousin, it was her birthday. And she kindly lent it to me when she finished reading it. Oh boy, how glad am I that she did!

I'm aware that I'm pretty late to jump on this train because this book's been trending for awhile now. The whole series, in fact. I kind of didn't want to read it because it's so popular and I was scared it wouldn't live up to my expectations. But it did. God, it so did!

At first, I didn't like Celaena because I thought she was full of herself. Then I came to like her sarcastic and witty self and I like that she was brave and didn't take shit from anyone. But her mouth will get her in trouble someday, I'm sure of it. I want to know more about her past, even though I read some spoilers and already know half the story. But I would like to read books anyway so I could get a better grip on things. I like that despite her being so strong and independent, she's still a young girl who didn't get to experience a lot of fun things in life and is still curious about a lot of stuff. And her love for books! Thank god that exist! An epic book character being a bookworm. Wow!

Do not get me started on the love triangle thing. I think this book would have been great even without the ships. The story in itself is so great that it doesn't need complication of romance but oh well, I guess it can't be helped. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up because the ships are everchanging thing in this series but I will burn with this one. That little detail in the last fight when he encouraged her and cried for her and saved her... If that isn't love, I don't know what is.

I liked the magical history of the world Sarah created. I'm always intrigued with magic and how writers decide to revolve story around it. I couldn't help but compare this to A Game of Thrones. I guess epic fantasies have to have some similarities.

Unfortunately, I won't read the second book until my cousins birthday in November. Sigh... I will never finish this series... ...more

After reading the novellas from the Throne of glass series, I was really scared to start Throne of glass. But I was so wrong! Everything was so much better than in the novellas! The writting was so much more mature! The characters had a lot more depth! The plot was more interesting!

The characters:

Celaena: Finally, a strong female character that loves dresses! I know, it may seems silly to you guys but I've had enough of all those strong female characters that think that wearing a dress is the wo After reading the novellas from the Throne of glass series, I was really scared to start Throne of glass. But I was so wrong! Everything was so much better than in the novellas! The writting was so much more mature! The characters had a lot more depth! The plot was more interesting!

The characters:

Celaena: Finally, a strong female character that loves dresses! I know, it may seems silly to you guys but I've had enough of all those strong female characters that think that wearing a dress is the worst torure on earth. Don't get me wrong, I know that a lot of woman don't like dresses, skirts and makeup (I'm not a big fan myself) but some do! It almost seems that in ya litterature, you can't be a strong women and like taking care of you apparence. There's all kind of persons in this world. Like Elena here on goodread said in her review: ''You can kick ass and look good while doing it''!.
Anyway, I really liked Celaena. I liked that she was attractive and beautiful and knew it. I liked that she was a little bit of a snob. She was just...different from most ya characters ansd I liked that. However, I never really felt connected to her but maybe it will change with Crown of midnight.

Dorian: I was surprised because I really liked him in the first half of the book and I didn't expect it from what I had heard about him. I enjoyed his interactions with Celaena but like she says at some points, his feelings for her were more like curiosity and attraction than love. However, his opinion on dogs made me loose all interests in him.... What can I say, I'm a animal lover. I still think he's an interesting character and can't wait to see himm grow during the series. Oh and another issues I had with him and Celaena is that I never really understood why she was interest in him. I understood her attraction to him but not her interest. Also, at some point, Dorian do something nice for her and Celaena transformed (for a moment) from a strong, arrogant and fierce women to a a naive and anoyying teenager. After that, their interactions lost a little bit of their charms.

Chaol: I love him. He's charming, calm and his feelings for Celeana grow all along the book and I love that he and Celaena doesn't realize them. They don't see it happening but us readers do and it was magical.

In the end, I enjoyed reading this book. It wasn't the greatest book I've read but the main character was so unique that it was worth reading. And Chaol was the kind of male interest I love. I'm excited to see where this series will progresses.

Celaena was badass. I really liked her. She had a tough personality, but that's because the world and it's obstacles made her that way. Although her tough personality and appearance makes others want to kill her, she is still a young woman who knows how to live and fight for what she wants. It was a very good book. ...more
