There were a lot of things that really annoyed me in this book, making it hard to get into. First, the writer makes such a big deal about how the main girl, Elisa, is fat. People make fun of her, don't think she's pretty, don't respect her. Now, had she kept her like that the whole time I would have been okay with it, but she didn't. Instead, she gave her a makeover. While I really liked this book, I didn't love it, mostly because of a few plot points that I really did not like. Still, that does not say it wasn't a good read, I just had a hard time getting into liking the main character...she was so blah at first, but then it was nice to have her grow up a bit and finally figure out what she wanted. I was hoping this wasn't a series...but it turns out that it is. Will I read the next book? Maybe...It will depend on how much time has passed when it comes out. ...more

I could NOT put this book down. Read the entire thing in less than 24 hours. I loved the characters, the world Carson built, and plot. The ONLY reason I didn't give this book a 5 star rating is because of what the author did to Humberto. I'm hoping that since this is a trilogy that she will rectify that. If not, I'm going to be an unhappy reader..... ...more
