Dictatorship
State of Emergency:
-provision allows suspension of the rule of law in the face of crisis (external usually) "Marshal Law" "emergrncy law" -->gives special powers to the gov. To solve the crisis
-temporary suspension of liberty law- civil liberty (flooding: cerfews, punish looters, use budgets...) (political: Ireland in 1920-today. IRA. Detention without trial, cerfews, limit protests, media, interigation techniques, limit movement)
---->problem no threat or goes away: the gov. has a lot of power(no checks and balances) and doesn't want to get rid of it. Sometimes it becomes permanent and the threat is internal-anyone can be a threat, suspisious (dictatorship)
-often is abused, when not a real crisis (South Africa regime; people confessed gthat they thought of people as forigen invaders to hurt them)
