Phil J Are you going to add the two Pax options together?

Jenn Celeste wrote: "The author of The Night Parade lives in Tokyo, so this book would not be eligable"

But is she still a US citizen? If so, the book would still be eligible, right?

Celeste Swanson Oops! I guess you are right. , because it was published in the U.S.

Yes, I always add the write in's together.

Kim McGee That is good to hear because "Pax" was a wonderful story and should be on our reading radar.

Mary HD I look forward to reading PAX, and have already read and enjoyed SOME KIND OF COURAGE. (Gemeinhart's melodramas with boy protagonists deserve to become popular; they are great reads!)

I have also read the Weatherford book; very well done.

But I have a request: if we must read picture books (which does make some sense after this year's winner....), perhaps you could group possible Newbery picture book picks later in the year, let's say October or November (or maybe make it our last reading selection?).

I really value this discussion group; it keeps me focused, with my limited time, on reading the best books of the year. Thank you!

To be honest I included the picture book based on the comments by Johnathon Hunt on the Heavy Medal blog. I also usually focus on the books released two months before. That way they are in the library and ready for reading.
