I'm going to start the campaigning by explaining my own criteria for my vote: I would like to read a series that has many books - not just 3 or 4. Ideally the individual books aren't very long, so I can finish reading every book in a month (this wouldn't have mattered to me if we'd gone with a few chapters per week, but at a book per month I would have trouble with the longer ones). In addition, I'd like something fairly recent or even still ongoing. That leaves me with a total of 4 choices: Recluce, Honor Harrington, Miles Vorkosigan and Deverry. I'd read any of those 4, but I'm rooting for two of them: the Recluce series (because I've read a couple of them and always wanted to get back into them, and at 15 books it's the longest one in the poll) or the Miles Vorkosigan series (because it's so much fun and definitely worth a re-read).
So there you have it :)
So there you have it :)

While I nominated Deverry I can already see that the run-off poll is going to be down to ASOIAF or Miles. The first three of Martin's already hold down places one, two and three in the Hall of Fame so I'm switching my vote to Miles. Some of the situations he gets into are priceles - the bug-butter dinner party was a classic!!
I think Miles would be a great guy to discuss for a few months! With all due respect to Mr. Martin, I love A Song of Ice and Fire, but I can't see myself re-reading those books again, especially at a one-book-per-month pace. So yes, Miles would be perfect, or Recluce, or just about any of the other nominations. To be honest, whichever series wins, I'm already looking forward to whatever ends up being the second series we discuss!

Though I have to admit I want to read Bujold's series an this is a good reason to do that.
Ceria - a series doesn't have to be finished to be eligible. Several other of the nominations are still ongoing. I even believe a new Vorkosigan book is in the works! I haven't read any of the Sun Sword books but will keep an eye out for them now.
I voted for Cherryh's Morgaine series because I own it and haven't read it. My next choice would be Deverry because I've read part of it, loved it, and wouldn't mind a revisit. If the Miles series wins, that will be good incentive for me to start collecting and reading those books because they have been on my "maybe" list for a long time.

Voting in this poll will end in about 24 hours, so last chance to make/change your vote. I have to say I'm thrilled to see a total of 45 individual votes cast in this poll so far!
24 people voted to read/discuss one book per month, and only 12 people voted for the other option, so we'll go with one book per month. I'm going to set this up so every book discussion goes from the 15th of the month until the 14th of the following month so the discussions don't start on the same day as the "regular" Books of the Month.
Unless anyone disagrees, I think we can get started with the first book on June 15th. That leaves one month from the end of the run-off poll to find and read the first book. Normally we leave 2 months, but I'm eager to get this started. Let me know if this doesn't work for you.
Finally, please feel free to campaign for your nomination! We have several long series so this discussion will probably be going on for a long time --- let's make it count and pick something good!
PS I didn't add the first books of each series to this poll because a) it would make the voting choices really long and b) I didn't feel like it. However, if you want to check them, they're all in the first post here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
