And I'm so glad I finally got the time to read it. This is such a sweet but not really story. It definitely leaves you at times emotional and makes you remember your loved ones. Especially Molly's background story made my heart clench a few times. Not that Romeo's story of abuse wasn't horrible and sad but Molly's just hit more home for me, personally. But it is all worth it at the end. I cannot wait to read Romeo's POV. I think it will add more to the story to know his thoughts and views on their journey. Just all in all a beautiful story of love and healing. ...more

I didWhen I saw the cover and then read the blurb I thought "OK, it's not everyday that you get to read a book like this one" and so I gave it a try. I didn't really know what to expect but the story was more "normal" than what I thought it would be, with all the kraken creatures and the new world. I mean, I did wonder how they would have intimacy but it turned out pretty all right, well at least for the situation they were in. I don't know, it didn't weird me out or anything. So that's a good sign, right? As far as the plot, it did get slightly boring at times and the ending felt a bit underwhelmind, at least to me. I just wanted more from the story and characters. I didn't love them but I also didn't dislike them. To be honest the book was just on OK read for me. Not amazing but also not bad. I don't know, maybe some readers will love it, so I guess it's better to give it a try yourself and perhaps you'll like the story more than me.

I've already finished the third book by now and I'm reading the fourth one, because I simply couldn't wait to know what happens next. I'm not going to spoil anything from the plot but it's safe to say that the plot gets better and also the characters mature a bit. I started to like more of them but there was one scene where I really wasn't happy with Nero and his behaviour towards Leda. I get that the author wanted to push the plot in a certain direction but I'm sure she could've done it in a different way that didn't make me feel a bit disappointed in the hero of this series. Some might say that it was all right what he did but I always try to put myself in the heroines shoes and I for one wouldn't forgive him that fast, if at all. There are just some lines that you don't cross and that one was one of mine. That all being said, I still - obviously like the series and I'm going to continue reading it. Let's hope I don't get to read another scene like the one in this book, cause that would be a bummer.

Usually we get smut and OTT heroes with no drama what-so-ever. But in this story I think it was great to see some plot twists that at times made me feel mad and at the same time sad for all the main characters. It had more depth and made the story more interesting - not that I mind the usual fun and hot stories from this author. I was just in the right head space to read this story and that made me like it more than the other AR books. I wonder, if AR is thinking of making more stories with such plot twists because I think I'd really enjoy them. Afterall, who doesn't from time to time want to read a controversial storyline. ...more

There are some similarities but nothing that would make me stop reading the book and call for author rights. In this series the whole world is so much different from what I'm used to reading about and that made me like the plot a lot. It's basically how the world looks like after armageddon. And all the angels and gods versus demons stuff is also quite amusing. I'm sure some wouldn't see it that way, but these days I just have a wicked kind of humor. Can't wait for Halloween btw.

Anyway, as I was saying the book is a treat, wonderful really! That being said, I wished there was more N/A instead of YA. You know, a bit more action on that front. But nonetheless, the characters had great chemistry and some I even found annoyingly lovable. I also wished we'd get a HEA but it's more of a HFN, maybe, for now. So I'm onto reading the next book and see what's the fuss about becoming an angel all about. With the speed the main character is progressing it certainly won't be long for her to be one.

Well...I had high hopes for this one, since I've read the reviews and many stated how great this story and the characters are. And for the most part, it's not a bad story, it's just that I wanted more than what I got. I didn't read any other books by this author and that's why I'm not sure if this is a standalone book or a spin off series from previous books. It felt like the other couples in this book had their own stories and I wondered what they were. For me to fully enjoy a book I need to know the background of the plot and the characters and I need the plot to feel clean and not hinting of other plots that are unknown to me. So that was a shame, otherwise I would've enjoyed this book better. That being said, I still liked the characters, especially the main couple. They were both strong individuals that at the same time had their own uncertanties and I'm glad they overcame them together. They had almost like a love-hate relationship at the beginning and it was quite fun to see them sort out their feelings in the middle of catching a deranged serial killer (or killers). I did wish they would've gotten together a bit earlier in the book and not only at the half mark of the book, but oh well... As for the ending, I don't know. I kinda liked it and most of the questions were answered but the main one is still out there. What's the real identity of the mastermind that wants to start a new war and what are they going to do about him? I know there's a second book out and I hope we'll get out answers in that one. Will I be reading it? Meh, I don't know but if I will, then for sure it's not going to happen anytime soon. ...more

You kinda know the base of the story but there's always an exciting element to a newly told story. And since this book is a bit longer than most re-tellings I thought I was in for a great read. And I did like the story until the 60% mark. Then things just became a bit anticlimatic for me. In the beginning the author included great details and I could connect to the characters. But nearing the end of the story I lost that connection, since it felt like the author rushed the ending and the emotional state of the characters. Especially about Spencer near the end of the story. I just missed more details. More thoughts on why and how Ruby started to see the beast in a new light, since she wasn't exactly fan of his and his actions.I think that would've made it more believable to me. Also, I just couldn't really warm up to Ruby's character. At times she really was behaving like a brat and it sure made me dislike her even more. Thankfully the same can't be said about Lincoln. I really liked his character. He was scarred by life and my heart just broke for him. I'm glad he got his happiness, he really deserved it. There was not enough explanation and logical thread to the story and the characters actions. Not to mention the epilogue. It felt like a was reading a biography without a hint of emotion. They were just stated facts, one after another and it left me with an unpleasant feeling. Not what you'd expect from a romantic book ending. I just wished for a smoother ride, that's all. That being said, the story's not bad but it's also not one that wowed me... ...more

Well, that was quite the read. And to be honest, I don't usually read a lot of YA books with plots such as this one, but for some reason I did enjoy this book. Maybe it was the fantasy element, which to be honest surprised me as I at first did not think it could fit into this story. But in the end it was the perfect fit. It made the story more interesting and did explain some things that I was wondering about at the beginning of the story. And maybe it was the whole set up and the characters of the story that sold me on this book. I don't know but I am sure of one thing and that is to read the second book. This one does end on a cliffhanger and not a pretty one at that. Not giving away any spoilers but our main characters do make huge sacrifices, or so it at least seems, for the ones they love and wish to protect. I'm not sure what will happend in the second book but I'm curious to find out how the whole family drama will play out. As it is now, it's really intense. Not to mention what will happen on the throne. Royalty always has had many enemies around them and usually it's the closest to them that in the end bring them the most harm and heartbreak. Makes me glad we live in a world where those times, for the most part, are gone. Democracy definitely has it's good parts compared to royalty, at least in that aspect. No harem of women that are after your throat, not that the character in this book didn't deserve it, just saying... Anyway, as already said, I did like the story and would recommend it to others for sure. ...more
This is it, the final book in this series. And how fitting that it's the number thirteen. I'm sad that iARC received in exchange for an honest review.
This is it, the final book in this series. And how fitting that it's the number thirteen. I'm sad that it's going to be the last one but at the same time I'm glad that we got our big ending. I think we've all been waiting a long time for that to happen, since the previous book ended on such a huge cliffhanger. And to be honest, this book ends more on a HFN than a HEA, since there's still the big battle that Beep has to fight agains Lucifer. I've read somewhere, so this info might not be 100% accurate, that we'll get a spin off for Beep's story. I hope that's true, since I'm in love with this series and would love to continue reading about such fantastic characters. Especially since we don't know what happened to Osh. So I think the author is hinting at the new spin off with that little clue.

And about what happens in this book...well...I'm not giving away any big spoilers so you'll just have to read the book to find out for yourself. But it's safe to say that this time all that could go wrong, goes wrong. And disastrously so. As in all hell is breaking loose and in the literal sense at that. Can't say I'm surprised by that, since that happens to me on a daily basis once I leave home and my cats can have the time of their lives destroying the house.

As for Charley and Reyes, I mean, they can't do any wrong in my opinion. Even if they accidentally almost destroy the whole world, no biggie. After being gone from the earthly plain for what felt like an eternity Charley had to live a little, right? And also, this might be the book where we get to see the couple spend most of their time together. Can't tell you how much I loved that. They are one of my all time favourite couples, their relationship is always so funny and something I someday wish to have with my loved one. Not to mention all the sexy scenes we get in this book. Aside from that, it felt so good to get the whole gang back together, the whole big family reuniting once again for this big battle. I mean, what more could one want from this series conclusion, right? Well, there were some pretty big plot twist and revelations and even deaths that left me completely stunned. I think it was Rocket's secret that had shocked me the most, like who knew? I was so happy and at the same time so sad for him. I wished someone would give him a big hug.

This book has some of my worst pet peeves in it and those are smoking, drugs, not liking cats and discrimination. I don't know how many times I wanted to quit the book but I pushed through the 25% mark and then it suddenly wasn't so bad anymore. After that the story picked up and things finally started to get more interesting.
I really liked the whole magick aspect and how fresh, unique and detailed the concept was. At times it was maybe hard to keep up with all the names of demons and rituals but that at the same time gave the finishing touch to a great plot. And the ending, uh, did not see that one coming. I mean, who would have thought so many crazy people existed. Guess you could say they were the black sheep of the family.

As for the characters, not bad. Took me some time to warm up to Arcadia but Jupe and Kar Yee I liked right of the bat. I have a feeling me and Kar Yee aren't that different form each other and that's perfectly fine with me. I even liked Mr. Piggy. Now, Cady's parents were a whole nother story. If you want to know why, read the book! As for Lon, not bad. I may not have liked his past but his present self is quite all right. If he sticks to Cady throughout the next books, then he's a keeper.
Will I be reading the next book? I think so. These are desperate times for me. There aren't many books that can keep my interest these days. So wish me luck for this series! :)

What can I say, I really enjoy this series. I think this book is on the same lever of like, for me, as the first book. The reason it's not the best of this series is Connor's annoying ex. At some point, all the empathy for her kidnapped husband and her whole situation just wasn't enough for me to like her. I am definitely team Nevada all the way and thankfully Rynda admited defeat. Had there been more calls, hugs or kissing Connor I was going to scratch her eyes out! But in the end she did find her own happiness, so that's good. As for Nevada and Connor, I loved them together. Nevada's such a strong character and she's also not afraid to speak her mind, especially towards Connor. He's still the strong alpha male that we got to know in the previous books but this time he's even more protective and in love with Nevada and I loved that. He didn't let anyone come between them but at the same time let her know all of her options for her future. All the action was great and had my attention but what I enjoyed the most is the growth of Nevada's family and her siblings. I would love for them to get their own books. That would be awesome. Also, most of the long awaited questions were answered, except for Caesar's identity. In the epilogue we get a glimpse of someone that could potentially be him but I'm not completely sold. I hope we get more book in this series, it would really be a shame for it to end so soon. ...more

At first I enjoyed the plot and the usual power couple. It was fun and full of action. But then after they got to Europe all the good feeling went to hell. And I hate to say it but Curran was such an ass to Kate, unbelievable. Like, the reason he did what he did is so weak, I really wanted to punch him during the remaining story. Also Kate, what were you doing?! Always saying you'll find him and talk to him and when you finally did, after several attempts, he lied to your face and in the end that ass had the decency to say he did it all out of love for you. Pfff...yeah...sure...whatever you say dude... I would have believed some of it, had he not made that face when he met the bitch princess but honey, you telling me he never felt anything for her is so not going to fly with me. Not to mention how he treated his mate. Even his own people wanted to punch him for it. Like what?!!! And Kate, you should have punched him harder. And left his ass. But since we all know then the story would be over, you could at least waited five more minutes before you forgave him. Honestly, so disappointing...

I had high hoped for this story, since I did like the blurb. I did like the beginning of the story but that beeing said, I am quite disappointed in the hero and his behaviour. I did like the herione and the other characters but the hero was an idiot, manho and mostly thought of his needs before the heriones and to top it off, he demands of her and her dragon to submit to him. Frankly said, he's an asshole that I'd beat up. So...I could barely overlook him kidnapping her, telling her that she'll just have to get used to her new life AND sharing her body with a dragon BUT this line “Abby, I know what he did. One of the warriors, Ha’ven’s informant, told me about Ben’qumain raping you. They heard your screams. It doesn’t matter. You are mine and will always be mine. was what finally pushed me over my limit. She was almost raped and he said that it doesn't matter. Like what the fuck!? Btw. she wasn't raped but that's not the point here. Also, when he finds her, the next morning they have sex and that is before she tells him she wasn't actually raped and of course he sleps with her, not even bother to ask her, if she's OK or I don't know, maybe even hint to her point of view on beeing intimate! Just what a fucking asshole! At that point I simply had to give up on this book at 84%. I'm done with this series. Just not what I'd enjoy from my heroes....more

And to be honest, I only read the first book in this series, so when I started reading this one I wasn't exactly sure what was going on, since the story starts with the heroine and hero already knowing each other and to say their relationship is simple would be the understatement of the year. They've slept together before, briefly, and since Sin is kinda responsible for the illness that's killing 'his kind' he's not so happy about having to work with her to find the cure. But aside from that, their chemistry is just wow. Leave these two alone for a bit and they can't keep their hands off each other. That's a love-hate relatioship at it's finest. Of course they slowly, very slowly, start to acknowledge their feelings of not only hate and annoyance for each other and I think that's where the relationship took a downfall. Since Conall has to drink her blood to provide a cure, he's also getting addicted to it and the end result is not pretty. Of course he tries to 'save her' from himself but the way he did it is just plain stupid and so unnecessary. He hurts Sin pretty badly and I was so proud of her brothers, the way they reacted, I loved it. Overall I liked the story but I wanted a good ending that I feel like I've been cheated out on. I'm not sure, if I'm going to continue with this series but it for sure has great potential....more

Time to tell the truth, when I saw the release date for this book I was practicaly stalking Netgalley and when I finally saw the chance to request an ARC for it, I was over the moon. I'm so grateful to Marissa for giving me the chance to read it, that I could jump from joy. Darynda did such a good job with this story, it's amazing. This series is one of my favs for years already and it's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Charley and Reyes. This time I feel in love with them even more. Also with Osh and Charleys family. At the end of the book I was so shocked to find out what horrible tragedy had almost befallen them but don't worry, Charley saves the day yet again. The plot from the previous book continues and there were so many twists and secrets. But not all is as it seems and I was kinda grumpy with Reyes for a minute but he's Reyes, so... I love him. I only wished we'd get to see more of him. There were five or so scenes with him, so that was really disappointing. I really do hope we'll get to see more of him in the next, last book. As far as the plot goes, we get murder, accused murder, lots of threats and get that, we eve get to meet God. To say I loved it would be an understatement. Of course the story end on a cliffhanger and I have the feeling the last book will be quite the action packed story that we are used from Darynda Jones. I am already counting down the days to it's release.
I have to say that I wasn't expecting the story to turn out the way it did. At first I wasn't sure I'd lARC received in exchange for an honest review.
I have to say that I wasn't expecting the story to turn out the way it did. At first I wasn't sure I'd like the story, since Nero came off as an A rate jerk but he grew on me really fast and in the end I really felt for him. His past nearly destroyed his future. He lived in terrible conditions as a child and was abused, so that left him with deep scars and with the fear to leave his comfort places. It's been years since he stepped out of his house, so of course he needed help from various assistants to get him things from the stores and so on. And that's where we get to met his new assistant, Phoebe. She needs the money that comes with her being by his side 24/7. He can be insanely demanding but over the time she comes to see his scars and fears. With that she of course wants to help him but that's easily said than done. You could say this is a story about two people that end up helping each other to get over their demons. This story is a mix of sweetness, sexyness and sorrow. I really liked reading about the journey those two took and how that changed them. I would definitely recommend it!
