In this story we meet three main characters lada and her brother radu. They are ripped from their family and placed in the Ottoman court. Lada hates it and tries everything in her power to buck the system and escape this life. All her brother wants is a place where he can call home and feel safe and secure.

How can they be friends or anything else. This is where the story kicks off and is something so amazing I am going to stop with my review right now so I don't give it away but I will say that this is a must read book. First I read love stories, then I read action, then dystopian and back to love stories. I needed a change and this is the book that was a spark in my reading.
This is a story about a girl who has it all then loses it only to regain it and so much more. This story is written with such passion and the descriptions of people and places was amazing and the fireflies OMG. After reading this story I looked up what exactly fireflies are and this is what I found from National Geographic "Fireflies are familiar, but few realize that these insects are actually beetles, nocturnal members of the family Lampyridae. Most fireflies are winged, which distinguishes them from other luminescent insects of the same family, commonly known as glowworms."
After reading the story and reading about fireflies I understood the story so much better. I have to say the author nailed this book! This is a must read for all this summer....more

I want to start with these two things first before I go into my review because I mean it really bothered me. This is a story about two teens looking for a change before senior year. For Cassidy she is looking to get over her breakup with her boyfriend and for Bryan he is trying to move on with his life after his accident caused him to be a paraplegic stuck in a wheelchair.
So you're thinking what couldn't you have liked about this story because you said you loved it. Well the author used a hashtag that irritated me #wheelchairperks. Good God I don't know why but everytime I read that phrase I would get annoyed. So I would hurry and read on so I could get to the better parts of the story. The second thing was the ending. Holy hell I hope there is a book two or a novella because I have to find out what happens to them.
This is a story of summer love and so much more. Cassidy needs to get over her ex Gavin and Bryan is trying to get used to his life in a wheelchair after an accident that he caused. When Cassidy and Bryan meet they both know there is something there between them but Bryan thinks no girl will want him because he is in a wheelchair but Cassidy soon shows him something different. As the two navigate through a friendship first they start to fall in love. As the summer goes on the two of them build such a loving friendship. The ending was good but I wanted no I needed more.
I have to say that I loved this story. It is such a heartwarming story that takes you on a journey of love, life, and friendship.

I loved loved this story. It tugged at my heart like no other book has. It dealt with so many issues teens face but one issue in particular that is hardly explored in books is adoption. This struck a chord in my heart because I know a lot of people who have been adopted and when they go to find their birth parents it is not what they envisioned.
Maude is in school and her photography class project is to photograph her family. Only problem is Maude's birth mother is deceased and she is adopted and wants to find out about her birth mother. She is not sure where to start but she thinks by starting at her mother's birth place she can put together a great story.
So she enlists the help of her best friend who is in college in her mother's birthplace Tallahassee. Treena is in college and agrees to help her best friend out but when Maude gets there her friend doesn't have time for her. Hurt and upset Maude decides she will do it herself. Then she meets Bennett her best friends dorm mate who offers to help Maude find out who her real mother was.
This is a story about finding one's self and friendships. This is a must read for all teens who have been adopted or are foster kids....more
