The events and plot winded together brilliantly, and the big reveals at the end were completely unexpected and rather mind blowing. Looking forward to Book 4! ...more

I actually found re-reading this more enjoyable because I understand how this stunning world and its lore works. Also the dream sequences are just as beautiful and poetically written as I remember them being!
This book was so stunning in every single way. Laini Taylor's prose is so gorgeous and poetic, having me engage with every page of the book. Plus the fact that this story focuses on every view point in terms of characters and their development in this world was awesome. Many stories focus on the 'good guy', whereas 'good' and 'bad' actions by characters are complex and determined by their sheer will of survival or redemption to their people in this story. I absolutely loved this aspect and I would love to read more stories that have that element in their plot.
My only one issue I had with this book is that I found the world building at the beginning of the book quite hard to follow, and I wasn't entirely sure what was going on for a while. Although the further I read, the more the world building started to make sense.
This book ended in such a heartbreaking and beautiful way. My initial reaction was "Dammit, why do I have until 2018 for 'Muse of Nightmares'? I need more of this!"and to be honest, I'm still feeling this way. 2018 can't come soon enough.
