Clymes is a one of the up-and-coming badasses of dark fantasy literature. Straying away from the usual refurbished creativity you are forced to endure, Totak has devised a brilliantly phenomenal world of fantasy, mixed with magic and unearthly morbid beings.
A spark of white, tinged with distinct blue mist, leapt along her arm and struck out against the creature. The spark collided with the Shade head-on. The creature writhed for mere seconds within the blazing illumination before being vaporized.
Although dark fantasy is not my chosen genre for reading, I found myself enthralled with this story! I truly enjoyed the fantastical ride that a group of strangers partake in the amazing effort to not only survive but to defeat the shadowed beings invading their world.
A terrible screech ripped through the forest. With a fierce wave of its arm, the Shadow let loose a massive wave of miasma and rushing darkness. The force tore across the mountainside without slowing. Trees were stripped of branches and thrown from their place, toppling over one another. Rock exploded from the ground, uprooted by the overwhelming force, and dirt evaporated in mid-air.
Two of the main characters in Amissio Libra: Chaos are Saikah and Nathresh. They have an amusing relationship to say the least.
Na’thresh then assessed Saikah whom he noticed, with a none-too-well hidden start of surprise, was pale as winter snow through and through. Her skin did not hold the same purity that captured the three siblings but was nevertheless a startling tone of sunless peach. Her hair fell in streaming locks of sterling and white-silver to the top of her perky buttocks, occasionally becoming caught under a hand or her legs when she shifted her sitting positions.
Other characters of the persevering team are Aru’ine, Cassandra and Citrine.
“Yes, Aru’ine interrupted suddenly, a dark and accusative tone staining his words. He stood straight and ran a hand through his hair. Na’thresh met his eye and took a long moment to analyze the expression. Aru’ine was staring at him, not in anger or resentment, but with fear. “You arrived right when the Shades appeared.
Totak’s writing impressed upon me a sense of rejuvenation in the world of literature. His writing style, which flows poetically and beautifully, is a reminder of what excellent writing should portray. Writing should leave a mark on your mind, a wondrous yearning to read more, to experience more of a writer’s universe. Unlike the occasional writing these days, Totak does not quickly type sentences to get through a scene. He chooses his words carefully, just as worthy writers from our past.
I know I am biased. I am constantly reminded that I am incapable of providing an objective review because, afterall, Totak is my husband. With that said, I urge you to read the first chapter and all snippets that I will post. I assure you, every word Totak has typed will be worth every second of your time.
Shapes glided along endless shadows at the base of trees lining the path to the cabin. Where one appeared, hundreds seemed to follow. For each shape, a new series of indistinct whispers and hisses broke against the deadly silence, but the forest remained quiet. A wail made of undulating, genderless tones filled the air, drowning even the myriad of hushed whispers. The moan distorted itself, creating sounds akin to an echo of a recording being played in reverse. It faded in and out, rising when the hiss of the slithering shapes receded, falling when they bolstered. Distinct, hollow voices emerged through the chaos.
In my conclusion, I will reiterate how fantastic this writing and book is. Totak has gone above and beyond the usual hogwash that is produced today. He is currently writing book two of the Amissio Libra series, Declina.

Impetuous gives the reader a fun and faced paced ride through an intense andImpetuous by Nicole Morgan
Word count: 31,979
4/5 Stars
Heat Level: SCORCHING
Impetuous gives the reader a fun and faced paced ride through an intense and somewhat contact character progression of Beck and Jennifer.
Answering Jennifer’s ad for employment, Beck wander’s into Jennifer’s hotel and comes face to face with a pistol stubborn woman who is trying to maintain the hotel without a maintenance crew. After a slippery mishap, Beck shocks her with his blunt and humorous line:
Beck “Well, sugar. You know, normally I like to spend a little time getting to know someone better I get horizontal with them, but since you’re so forceful, I might just make an exception for you.
After the embarrassing first meeting, Beck confronts Jennifer in her office. His blatant observation on the lack of competence of Jennifer as a repair person offends her, and she refuses his employment.
With a wink he walked out of her office and closed the door, but not before caught the look she gave him. If looks could kill, he would be six feet under with a pleased woman standing on top of his grave. He had definitely regained the upper hand, and that was exactly how he wanted it.
This story quickly progresses to a hot and savory evening in Jennifer’s suite. The delicious descriptive voice that Nicole Morgan provides the reader will undoubtedly leave you throbbing and craving more. Morgan doesn’t disappoint as the long, in-depth sex scene that will leave you smiling. If you appreciate a man who talks to you during sex, Beck’s lines will leave you panting.
Startled back to reality, she looked up at him. Any amount of desire she had for him before was nothing compared to the heat tearing through her core right now. Hot lava was pouring through her veins. Her pussy was throbbing, wanting and needing to be filled with him as juices seeped from inside her and coated her panties.
As the story progresses, the relationship progression becomes more complicated, and both Beck and Jennifer become curious about their feelings and thoughts of uncertainty.
…but there was something about Beck that just made her lose all self-control. His touch was like a magician waving his wand. His kiss was like a succulent aphrodisiac plucked from the Garden of Eden.
I recommend this book to ADULT readers only. Extreme erotica with a twist of sweet plot that only entices the reader further into Morgan’s world of hello-there-baby! world. ...more

Their bodies stopped swaying. Taking a deep breath and swallowing the fear that threatened to ruin this totally rocking awesome moment, Madison turned around to face him. Oh, lovely. She felt the typical deer-caught-in-headlights sensation. Seconds ticked by with each breath and heartbeat. What the hell were they doing? Strangers. Strangers making each other feel such heat for each other. With every touch, the lust rippled like lightning through their bodies.
Say something. You want her. She most definitely wants you. He could smell her arousal, and wanted to taste her. Say something. Allowing a most sincere and beaming grin to grace his face, he smiled at her. No words were needed to explain what had just happened between them.
“Five minutes until last call! he heard the DJ announce.
Well, this was it. The moment of truth. “I must see you again. Dorian held his breath. Was he nervous? When was the last time he had felt this flustered? It was unusual for him to feel insecure with himself. He felt unsure of where he stood, though usually he could read exactly what a woman wanted. Pay close attention to her eyes, to her breathing and you can easily know how her body is responding to you. The way her body responded to his attentions, and whether or not her fingers were clenched or relaxed were excellent tells. Any man of worth could please his woman if only he would pay attention to her.
Biting her lower lip harder than usual, she needed to focus. “Umm, yes, I would love to see you again, Madison forced herself to blurt out before she lost the words, the ability to even speak. Her entire body flushed. Not a single part of her body was free of the tingling ache that his touches left. No other man had ever left her feeling so flustered, so crazed with need. She did not want this moment to end. She dreaded the evening ahead and wished it would end sooner rather than later. Now Proteus was closing, and there did not seem to be enough time for the delicious man before her.
She breathed in again, her nose pulling in his scent. All male. His strength, his aura surrounded her, wrapping her into his web of seduction. Who was she kidding? She was done for. He could ravish her right now and she wasn’t sure if she could say no.
“My sister is hosting a party tomorrow evening. I would be honored if you would join us.
Oh shit. She needed to be near him again. How could she even say no when her body cried out yes? Already fantasizing about tomorrow evening, it didn’t occur to her that she had not yet responded.
“I also extend my invitation to your two friends. If it would help alleviate any nervousness, please, by all means, allow them to accompany you.
Madison turned in the direction that Dorian was looking. Both Danny and Elise were gawking at her. Raising her hand to offer a wave, she smiled softly before returning her gaze to Dorian.
“I’d love to. I’m sure they would feel more comfortable tagging along as well. I doubt I could dissuade them.
Capturing her mouth with his, he sucked on her lips, nibbling and biting down hard enough to entice a surprised moan before running his tongue over her lips to soothe the sweet, stinging pain into pleasure. Dorian was anxious to taste her, to explore her warm, velvety mouth.
“Open your mouth for me, he whispered, his lips barely gliding against hers in a sweet temptation.
No hesitation. No second-guessing herself. She did as he asked and opened for him. He took advantage of her mouth immediately. Dorian sucked her breath into his body as his tongue darted into her mouth. Forcing her acceptance and gliding his tongue over hers, he tasted her. The little sounds she made for him were exquisite. Exploring her mouth more, he pulled her body tightly against his.
The world melted away. The kiss was fierce and demanding. “Last call! The final announcement jolted them back to reality. Breathing heavily and panting, their lips were still touching. He sucked her lower lip into his mouth and bit down gently, causing her to moan. With an arrogant grin, he straightened his body. His bulge beckoned her, pressing against her stomach. She could feel his arousal and the thought of what was to come rushed through her veins in anticipation.
Taking her hand in his, he led them through the crowd toward the bar, to the friends that waited ever so eagerly for her return. She was his. He would have her. Feeling sorry for any person who tried to interfere with their relationship, he knew that he needed to claim her as his own, to mark her and warn other males away from this woman. He held his chin up with composure, more composure than he felt, and walked beside her, their bodies brushing against each other with every step.
Kiss the Dead is the 21st book in the Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton. This series began with an interestinDisappointing ..
Kiss the Dead is the 21st book in the Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton. This series began with an interesting bang .. a slow one at that but it quickly built into an extremely erotic black hole that sucked all the time out of me.
With that said, Hit List (Book # 20) and Kiss the Dead (Book # 21) have both fallen below the standards and expectations that the series has earned.
Kiss the Dead, although an immense improvement from Hit List .. left me wanting. The writing style has completely changed .. although Hamilton is writing "better" .. it has changed the tone of the Blake books and this is unacceptable. :(
50 pages into the book, and I was still crossing my fingers that it would get better. Thankfully, it did .. but unfortunately .. *sigh* it didn't pull itself out of the shit list to which I had placed it. Crude .. brutal .. but that's me being honest.
I will not bother going into a basic, all around whatnot about the book. I have a college paper to write :) Below, you will miscellaneous tidbits and quotes! Enjoy .. for there may be nothing else worthy .. bummer.
"They'd say how you're bad for shacking up with vampires and wereleopards, but in a firefight they'll take your vampire-loving, furry-fucking ass over most anyone else's."
Anita Blake's character has taken a turn of complete happiness .. As nice as the thought it .. Seriously? Anita Blake isn't happy. It's a dream come true sure .. she has accepted her love of the sweeties .. but seriously? Thankfully .. Asher comes to save the day with drama!
He nodded. "That is fair. I am sorry, truly sorry, but you are right. Apologies that do not lead to better actions are empty things."
Occasionally Blake rambles to herself .. the struggles with morals and thoughts .. feelings of love or resistance .. I did find the quote below rather hilarious .. It's from a woman (Blake) .. relationship problems rock!
"Was I his? Was he mine? Duck, I didn't know. How could I not know after more than a year? How could I not know the answer to this? What the fuck was wrong with me? What the fuck was wrong ... with me? With ... him and me, with us? No, with me. With me. What was wrong with me?"
I recommend this book to Anita Blake fans. And even then .. If you are saving money for this book just for that reason .. save it until it hits the Barnes and Noble $5 bargain shelf. I do not recommend this book to immature adults or children. Although the sexual content has leapt from 160 to 35 mph .. the content is still significant.
Snort worthy laughter, sexy cowboys and indiscrete closets, endearing love, Family drama, vengeful tigers and betraying assholes .. oh my!
I am very exSnort worthy laughter, sexy cowboys and indiscrete closets, endearing love, Family drama, vengeful tigers and betraying assholes .. oh my!
I am very excited to have had the chance to read this book prior to school starting on Monday! And what can I say?
PHENOMENAL! Roux outdoes herself .. Stars & Stripes is an incredible addition to the lives of Zane and Ty.
I found the first 25% of this book extremely comical and an unexpected surprise.
Below is a quick passage from a “Ty’s Family scene .. I don’t remember what I was drinking, but I think it came out of my nose. Bushes and pruning ..
“She told me to wait, that I was going to lose a finger. Earl looked toward the kitchen and then back at Ty and Deuce. He snorted. “I asked her, did she think I was stupid? Then a couple of snips later, whack. Off went the finger. And you know what that woman said to me? I said, ‘Mara, you cut my finger off. And your mother said to me, ‘Well, Earl, who’s stupid now?’
This book is a wee bit of a pinball ride. It’s all over the place .. different states and scenes. Zane ends up in Texas enduring his mother’s wrath while trying to solve the small problem of his father being shot by trespassers. No spoiler here .. that’s all I’m going to say on it!
Below is a sexy scene between Garrett and Ty *grin* I love this shit
Zane kissed him harder. “You feel like putting that hat back on and saddling up?
Ty’s breath hitched, eyes dark and cheeks flushed. “Oh yeah. But if you utter the words ‘ride ‘em cowboy, I’m done.
Stars & Stripes provides a lot of back story gathering. Bits and pieces of both our boys lives comes together and if it is even possible! .. I now have a more profound appreciation for our lovelies!
I recommend this book to mature adults only! Strong and deliciously descriptive M/M erotic scenes, bloody betrayals and vicious conflicts! Oh ya .. All I want .. is to have this entire series on my *glances to my right* bookshelf. *pout*
Line of the book:
“Oh come on, admit it. You’re a big bad tough guy who fell in love with an itty bitty kitty. ...more
Action packed .. Romance .. Argumentative lovers betrayal .. assassins and innocent boyfriends .. Abigail Roux delivers the exceptional continuation oAction packed .. Romance .. Argumentative lovers betrayal .. assassins and innocent boyfriends .. Abigail Roux delivers the exceptional continuation of the couple we have all learned to love .. Garrett and Grady!
Zane Garrett and Ty Grady are by far the most intriguing and entertaining M/M couples ever created!
The Cut and Run series is incredible, regardless of your sexual preferences, this series is quite honestly brilliant, amazing and well worth the time and money.
From the first book in this series, Cut and Run, I have been extremely intrigued with its characters. With every book, the climactic endings frustrate me to no end as I wait ever so impatiently for the Zane and Ty to take the next step in their relationship. I find my heart pounds and I hold my breath as each scene unravels with more tension, raging arguments, moments of arousing delicacies and bloodshed. Funny isn't it? How all of those things make the books just come together.
Armed and Dangerous is filled with hilarious moments of conflicts. Zane and Ty find themselves blessed with the mission to locate a killer, a material witness, and return him to DC. The book is consumed with two gay couples with extremely contrasting personalities. As always, Zane and Ty hide their feelings from others ... which I can't stand! But! ... It is what it is.
Finally .. and this isn't a spoiler .. it's just almost gagworthy beautiful .. If this was said in any other book I would have rolled my eyes and puked. Just the fact that Ty said it to Zane .. *girlie moment* almost brought me to tears *sniff*
Ty hugged him and let out the breath he'd been holding in a rush. "I love you. I will always be yours, Zane-no matter where I am or where you are. I promise you that," he said, the words as serious as Zane had ever heard Ty utter.
Cameron, the killer's boyfriend and an innocent younger man who is the sweet wheel of the group, is being dragged along as they make their way to DC. Below is a statement that may seem left field, but coming from Cameron, it was quite shocking!
"And you two, you're ridiculous! You're so busy bitching at each other and trying to look like you don't care that you don't realize you're throwing your lives away waiting for it to be the right time to admit you're in love."
I thought I had many more clips from this book saved. I don't o.O
It sounds simple and almost boring, but I assure you, this book is AWESOME! Cut and Run is the *best* book in this series. Armed and Dangerous is undeniably a close second.
I recommend this book to mature adults in desperate need of excitement, romance and action. This is a M/M suspense romance. I cannot give higher praise to Roux other than to say .. I am inspired and reminded the possibilities that life has to offer. ...more
Perhaps I am in a reading funk. Perhaps I am not giving Arthur's last two books a fair chance.
Nonetheless, I shall write my honest opinion. Thi*sigh*
Perhaps I am in a reading funk. Perhaps I am not giving Arthur's last two books a fair chance.
Nonetheless, I shall write my honest opinion. This book put me to sleep.
Riley Jenson, a Guardian / super non-human cop who is apparently judge, jury and executioner, wiggles her way into ... or out of... the fear of commitment to Kellen, an alpha werewolf yadda yadda ...
He wants to protect her. She doesn't need his protection. He wants the white picket fence. She wants to dig her fingers into her flesh to remove that deadly and numbing silver bullet before a monster with a barbed penis comes along and whacks her in more than one way. Boring? Believe it or not .. hell yes.
In Embraced by Darkness, Riley is contacted by her pack, the pack that tossed her off the cliff for being a half-breed, the pack that exiled her and her twin brother. Women are going missing, and for some reason, they have decided to bully her into the investigation by threatening her mother.
Still boring.
The sexual content is almost non-existent .. wtf? After the first two books in this series, there was promise of entertainment with interesting bestial intimacies between breeds and half breeds. What can I say? Rock on.
My original opinion of this series, is that I would rate it at the top of my charts ... along with the Anita Blake series. Well shit ... I'll have to place her books on lower bookshelves and reserve the higher shelf for new favorite authors.
Ok, I hate writing negative reviews... and there have been plenty in the past few months! That's wrong on so many levels ... bummer.
So, let's find something positive to say about this book. The hunter becomes the hunted. Yup, that's about it.
I recommend this book to those who intend on reading this series. I do not recommend immature adults or children getting their hands on this book, as the violence, although brief, is fun-filled with bodies are ripped apart. The sexual content is vague, brief, and borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring.
This book bored the everliving shit out of me. BORED ME! College classes, midterms, tests, homework ... All I wanted was something hot! SomeOk. Hmm...
This book bored the everliving shit out of me. BORED ME! College classes, midterms, tests, homework ... All I wanted was something hot! Something sizzling .. something that would distract me from the apparently endless number of dense students that attend my college. But .. no.
When I found this author ...this series, I was excited! I lovelovelove Anita Blake and hot damn this series is similar and just flat-out does it for me. Unfortunately, every writer has his or her moment and Arthur had hers while writing this book.
Did I mention boring? Ok, let's see, shall we?
Plot! Sexy Riley Jenson, wolf chick who has a thing for Kellen (Alpha werewolf dude) and Quinn (oddly seductive with a side of soul mate vampire). How can you possible have a paranormal romance series without the inevitable lustful triangle? To put it simply ... You can't.
Women are being slaughtered, mutilated and raped by some finger devouring demon who somehow manages to brutally kill his victims and dumps their bodies with a shameful yet satisfying smile.
We have the devious and evasive Gautier who ... is irritating. Although there is a tremendous amount of back story for this character, I find him hollow and unworthy of my attentions :)
Searching for an archaic dark god who accompanies a three-headed dragon known as death, pain and desperation, Riley finds herself with a sadist (dragon head dude of pain hah) who finds Riley quite appetizing. *rolls eyes*
There are a few, brief moments of intrigue, but other than that ... I suffered my way through this book.
The short conversation below may seem boring, but the progressing relationship between Riley and Sal is hilarious. Two strong-minded females, one vamp, one werewolf .. It's downright comical ;)
"For weres, or for vamps who have the hots for their boss?"
"Humans, asshole. Anything else?"
"Nope. Such a pleasure talking to you again, Sal."
"Bite my ass, wolf girl."
This book displeased me until the last 20%. With that said, I give this author and the Riley Jenson Guardian series a two thumbs up. I find it fascinating and I sincerely hope that the next book does not leave me wanting.
I recommend this book to mature adults only. Totally rockin awesome violence and sadomasochistic sexual and violent content. Read this series sequentially or it will not make a bit of damn sense.
Infiltrating the grounds as whores and arena fighters, toys for the crossbred freaks with interesting body Tempting Evil is pretty morbid. I loved it!
Infiltrating the grounds as whores and arena fighters, toys for the crossbred freaks with interesting body part accessories, and sexual sadists who apparently enjoy raping women not only when they're screaming in fear and pain, but also as they are knocked out unconscious.
It's time! Riley and Rhoan, along with the other sexy studs and vampires, receive enough intel that they are ready to wiggle into the completely screwed world of a psychohomosexual who apparently enjoy watching women and men being used, abused, and beaten to the point of death, and then screwing them or handing them over to the zoo filled with freaks that were a result of his lab experiments.
I marked this book on goodreads as 3 stars..."I liked it."
So far, these books are truly entertaining me. I find myself excited to read more and have managed to continue receiving As in school and still read a book a day .. /cheers
However, this book left me wanting. The action was incredible, the plot and sexually seductive options and kidnappings are fun and dripping with erotic perversion. But that's just it ... It was one thing after the next.
"I will shake your hand, but know that if you and your people do not old to your word, I will kill you."
My grin was nasty. "And if I get the slightest whiff of a double-cross, believe me that I will kill every fucking one of you."
Our beloved Quinn makes an interesting appearance and I find myself holding my breath in anticipation of their relationship that is now progressing quite well. I'm curious as to where it will lead and if it will simply be something adored yet never accomplished. Bummer ...
I do recommend this book to any mature adult who has read the first two books in this series. If you have not read this series sequentially... you're screwed. Just do it ...
Extreme violence, unbearably seductive and tantalizing sexual content that borders on sever perversion to outright holy shit and open mouth whoa double takes to make sure what you read was what you read hehe

Filled with some serious love and sexual trKissing Sin is a story about a sexually confident and provacative woman who is half werewolf half vampire. Filled with some serious love and sexual triangles, Kissing Sin is the second book in the Riley Jenson Guardian series by Keri Arthur.
A fairly comparable series to Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake; Vampire Hunter... Arthur has left me smiling and never wanting or unsatisfied.
Anita Blake is a .. well we won't go *there* ... Basically she struggles with a paranormal curse that forces her to screw and eat the orgasms and passion from others in her life. She constantly struggles with her ever so adorable whoreness and forever aching ... pussy. (I almost don't want to use that word in a review haha .. but it's fitting.)
Instead of the constant struggle that Anita faces when it comes to her sexual needs, RILEY JENSON ... Is a werewolf who needs "the dance" of the moon and sex is as vital as air to humans or blood to vampires. Basically, we get a lot of fkn loving, endless orgasms and interesting love triangles without all the boo fkn hoo regret that we have to suffer in the Blake series.
Instead of having the second novel in this series consist of a completely different story, or allowing it to jump ahead too far on a timeline, it smoothly picks up and continues where Full Moon Rising left off. Instead of a brutal cliffhanger that makes you want to rip the author's head off, Full Moon Rising offers a climactic ending with a large amount of mystery to look forward to.
Finding herself abused, raped and violated and without memory ... a gory body ripped to shreds beside her .. covered in blood .. Riley has no idea where she is or how she got there. All she knows is that some funky looking creatures are hunting her and they're faster than anything else she has ever encountered. Isn't that always the case?
In her attempts to evade and hide from said monsters, she finds herself in a horse barn with a bunch of studly horse shifters. A Horse shifter .. studly .. get it? How funny .. Her interactions with Kade .. the handsome horseshifter, is intriguing and I want more!
Do I get more? Hell yes I do :) What happens then? Well ... Quinn gets PISSED!
Working with her team of guardians, they continue to search for the labs that are kidnapping, breeding and "milking" its occupants, she is led into the realization that she can no longer trust her mates, and those who she has feelings for .. can "go to hell" ...
I'll leave it at that...NO SPOILERS for YOU!
This is a MUST READ .. BUT .. In order not to find yourself sitting there with that .. 'wtf? huh?' look on your face .. And to have a better appreciate for the characters and relationships in this series, I HIGHLY ADVISE you read this series sequentially!
I recommend this book to mature adults only...Totally rockin awesome strong sexual content .. AWESOME violence dripping from oozing brains and spider eaten penis? WHOA! Fantastic book and I enjoyed ever word of it!
Incredibly sexy! Action packed suspense! Full Moon Rising is a crossbreeding of J.D Robb meets Anita Blake meets Mercy Thompson! This book is positiveIncredibly sexy! Action packed suspense! Full Moon Rising is a crossbreeding of J.D Robb meets Anita Blake meets Mercy Thompson! This book is positively FABULOUS and I'm super excited about reading the book that is *glances to my right* waiting ever so impatiently for my sweetest attention <3
This is a new author and (duh) new series for me. All of the characters are fresh in my brain ... I am being seduced by them as we speak and anxiously await the full sacrificial wave of dreams that will hopefully! ... undoubtedly! ... wake me panting o.O
*grin*
Full Moon Rising is the first book in the Riley Jenson Guardian series; therefore I will be giving you details about what I have come to know thus far... Even though I have noticed that at times I speak my mind .. I am proven "wrong" .. Hey it happens!
Not often.
But it does!
Riley Jenson, a half-breed of werewolf and vampire, the twin to the badass Guardian, Rhoan ... and an erotic dancer of the moon's pull ... She is fun and awesome. I hate comparing .. But I really like this book and I'm going to try and put her into perspective for possible addicts! It's like Anita on valium .. but Mercy on X and revenge. Where does that leave us? With a woman who is sexually confident, betrayed by bastards in her life and does what is needed to .. well the means justify the end, right?
She's excruciatingly lonely in a crowded room, a sad character who does not make friends easily ... this leaves her undying loyalty to a fault and somewhat blinds her to the creepy crawly asswipes lurking in the shadows with knives in their hands!
There are so many wonderful characters .. Hmm. I'm not sure how to "go there" without "going there" ...spoilers suck!
Skipping characters!
This book takes place in the future without the J.D. Robb vroom vrooming. There are ancient vampires, although rare. There are crossbreds, although highly improbable. There is a paranormal section of the law that ... well the seek out and handle what needs handling without bothering to let the "real" world know about the bloodshed.
Rhoan is kidnapped! A friend goes missing ... A vampire warned and warning Riley to keep her distance, and a handful of potential hot and dripping sexy lovers that quite honestly .. well I hope I dream about the club dance scene tonight!
Laurell K. Hamilton is one of my favorite authors. Keri Arthur has excellent potential to wiggle herself onto a higher shelf (the one my toddler should never be able to reach .. cross your fingers!) where she will remain safe and sound. I have high expectations and I sincerely .. I truly hope that Kissing Sin, the second book in this series, keeps me smiling! (I'm 26 pages in and I'm already sick of this review... as it is taking time away from reading!)
This book takes off with a BANG .. You do not even have to read 5 pages before being seduced into Riley's world .. She's brilliant and I'm looking forward to more.
I recommend this book to mature adults only .. awesome violence scenes although not entirely too eyeball oozing worthy. Fantastic sexual content .. frequent .. descriptive .. but brief enough to allow the actual story to stay at the front row.

I'm such a sucker for cheap thrills. I've been working on my thesis (Done by the way!) so I have desperately needed something to fill in the *staring at my monitor and mindless tapping at my keys* moments...So, I filled it with books that are written in 7th grade reading level. Over 300 pages in less than a day, my thesis is finished and now I find myself writing this review so that I may continue on with the next book in the Darkness Chosen series, Touch of Darkness.
Scent of Darkness is a paranormal romance (yay for repetition!) story that has an interesting historical sign your soul and your descendants soul to the devil fog. A family whom raids, rapes and conquers, one feared by all, hired by some, and served by others.
Although I found this book interesting (A word choice I will often use to soften a negative tone), I felt as though I was flung into a world of survival, rape and intrigue.
Ann, an orphan left for dumpster and rat bait, lived her life in fear of the bad ones that always came. Efficient and drowning in her infatuation and lust for her boss, Jasha ... she decides to visit him at his home to seduce him, to make him see her for more than just an administrative assistant.
Jasha is a powerful man, a successful owner of a winery who is profoundly loyal to his family of cursed shape-shifters, those damned for their gifts as they run and hide from the family they betrayed ... survived .. escaped from.
This book is a quick read for those in need of an airplane book or something simple to fall asleep to. Perhaps I am having a bad day and did not give this book the open-minded chance that I am well-known for .. Screw it.
I liked this book... barely. As I tend to obsess and do the whole OCD bit .. I must continue with the series until the end .. yay me. It is the weekend, and I am confident (Now that my thesis is completed and my homework and studying is done...) that I can avoid my computer for a couple of days (Yay me for hiding...) and knock out the other three books before Monday.
I recommend this book to those in need of a cheap paranormal romance thrill. The back story for this story is highly intriguing, but I found the action unmemorable. Moderate rip your eyes out violence and semi strong sexual but brief content .. Only a few scenes.
The Darkness Chosen series is...*rubs eyes* ...well, some have called it sweet torture; I on the other hand suffered my way through this book.
I promiThe Darkness Chosen series is...*rubs eyes* ...well, some have called it sweet torture; I on the other hand suffered my way through this book.
I promised myself that I would not reread a book in 2012; so here I am .. reading new books ... new authors ... And paying the price.
Don't get me wrong, Christine Dodd has an imagination that she proves easily in this series that is filled with a historical background of selling one's soul to the devil, a history of rape and dominance ... A back story of a family that ran away from it all and have survived hiding as well as preparing for the inevitable battle between ... *drum roll* ... Good and evil.
Rurik is a fun character, shapeshifting hawk! Different and cool, eh? He is filled with conviction, passion and sexy yumminess to the tenth power baby! A charmer, he seduced the one and only Tasya into his bed and apparently under his hot and multiple-orgasmic throbbing skills. Where does that leave Tasya? Consumed with the fear of being overwhelmed and taken over.
"I can't predict the future, but I know this has just begun."
There are several lines in this book that are more than worthy of a cheesy James Bond moment with a bit more romance that just makes you want to barf. The lines will surely make a lot of women whimper in the unfilled romance in their own lives...Me? Cheesy!
"You and I were reborn from Mother Earth, clawing our way out of the birth canal and into precarious life."
Finally, the eluding Tasya Hunnisomethingorother pops back into Rurik's life and he is angry and ready to remind her of the lust and desire that she felt with him. Fortunate for the back story of this book, she has this dark past filled with secret convictions of her own. She's running towards the deadly historical force, the same force Rurik hides from...This leaves the interesting couple of a clash of motivation.
Still running from Rurik, running from the assassin psycho raping baddudes, running from ...hell every thing, they are forced to endure one another's company; the perfect chance for Rurik to remind her of who she is dealing with.
"Because I want every breath you take to be empty unless you're close enough to smell me. Every word you speak to be unimportant unless it's to me. Every sound you hear empty unless it's my voice. I want you to remember that whatever pleasure you have from now on, you'll have it from me."
Bit much, isn't it? Damned sexy though!
I recommend this book to...mature adults only. The violence is fun and descriptive, although brief. The sexual content is entirely too sporadic for my taste, yet there is mild content found between the pages ...somewhere.
I do not recommend this book to immature eyes. ~happy reading! ...more
I am a great soft jelly thing. Smoothly rounded, with no mouth, with pulsing white holes filled by fog Holy shit!
Ok!...Let's see. Where shall I begin?
I am a great soft jelly thing. Smoothly rounded, with no mouth, with pulsing white holes filled by fog where my eyes used to be. Rubbery appendages that were once my arms; bulks rounding down into legless jumps of soft slippery matter....
Does... Holy shit! work?
A fellow reviewer on goodreads posted a review of this short story. I read a ton of reviews, and although many are quite intriguing, I do not find myself drawn or beckoned to read them.
This story is many things. Suffocating misery. Delicious torture. Frustrating envy of monkey sized penis lust.
His monkey-like face was crumbled up in an expression of beatific delight and sadness, all at the same time.
Creation. Immortality seeking death. Holier than thou god complex with a brilliant twist of extreme perversion.
Hot, cold, hail, lava, boils or locusts-it never mattered: the machine masturbated and we had to take it or die.
I thought of it as a him, in the masculine ... the paternal ... the patriarchal ... for he is a jealous people. Him. It. God as a Daddy of Deranged.
Five creators of a machine that (or would it be proper to say who as the machine is now a who? Hmm...) has destroyed the human race, snatching those five and keeping them for his own little sadistic pleasure. I have read a lot of twisted shit...
Wandering desolate lands with inserted thoughts of hope and food, those five left to survive a profoundly degradation that lasts over one hundred years. One hundred years of hiking towards food you believe is awaiting your arrival, only to find putrified feces or canned of foods without a can opener. Which would you find worse?
This book is positively phenomenal. Their suffering was arousing and incredible in every essence of the word.
My mind was a roiling tinkling chittering softness of brain parts that expanded and contracted in quivering frenzy.
I recommend this book to ... I suppose replacing "Santa won't visit bad children" with this book and saying... "This is what happens if you don't clean your room" would work? HA!
Ok seriously...
I recommend this book to ... *thinks* ... I recommend this book to those who feel as if their life is falling apart, to those who believe that it could never get any worse... To those who boo fkn hoo all the damned time and invite others into a pity party of pathetic wowness.
I recommend this book to those with a brain who are willing to explore a world of pain, suffering and ironic creation, control and passion.
Extreme descriptive violence, torture and many other beautiful things that I would give my right leg to avoid ...
Line of the book:
There was an eternity beat of soundless anticipation. ...more

Cheers to Jessica Callaver for the delicious, body tingling descriptive intimacies that which she has shared with me...And hopefully you!
It is very difficult to nail a short story. Too much back story? Too little? Not enough description? Cliffhanger or closure? There are many factors to which a short story can wiggle itself into my mind and beg to be reread. I have a feeling that I will be reading this story more than once.
Positively brilliant, heart pounding, toes clenching... This story between two people who meet in a motel room after finding each other on an online personals website.
Instead of a cold, harsh wham bam humping, Callaver has taken a quick, new encounter to the next level. Giving us a glimpse into the possibilities of what could be, showing us a strong woman who takes charge of her own sexual appetite is arousing and incredibly overwhelming.
Dara could feel his gaze on her body as she crossed the threshold, could feel his eyes, like hands caressing her skin. She put an extra wiggle in her sashay, the material of her skirt tickling the skin of her ass.
Fantastic intimacy! The only thing about this story is that it left me wanting. I want more! I want Kelly. Her tantalizing efforts force me to anticipate more of her work and I can assure you that her words are addictive.
This short story is a MUST READ! I have yet to read any of her other work, but I am hopeful to do so in the near future and will not hesitate to give you a glimpse into her world with future reviews.
I recommend this story to MATURE adults ONLY! This is an extremely intimate erotica. Sex, sex, and more sex. It's delicious. It's throbbing. It's teasing. Read on!
I'm sitting here staring at my monitor trying my damnedest to fathom what I could possibly tell you about this book that would do it justice.
The SecreI'm sitting here staring at my monitor trying my damnedest to fathom what I could possibly tell you about this book that would do it justice.
The Secret History is a story about a group of above average intelligence college students who are studying with an elitist professor who requires their full attention as he monopolizes their time with lectures and insight into human behavior and more importantly, the Greek language, its origins and history.
During one of Professor Julian's lectures (Pardon the long citation, but this passage is one of my favorites from this book):
"Because it is dangerous to ignore the existence of the irrational. The more cultivated a person is, the more intelligent, the more repressed, then the more he needs some method of channeling the primitive impulses he's worked so hard to subdue. Otherwise those powerful old forces will mass and strengthen until they are violent enough to break free, more violent for the delay, often strong enough to sweep the will away entirely. For a warning of what happens in the absence of such a pressure calve, we have the example of Romans. The emperors. Think, for example, the Tiberius, the ugly stepson, trying to live up to the command of his stepfather Augustus. Think of the tremendous, impossible strain he must have undergone, following the footsteps of a savior, a god. The people hated him. No matter how hard he tried he was never good enough, could never be rid of the hateful self, and finally the floodgates broke. her was swept away on his perversions and he died, old and mad, lost in the pleasure gardens of Capri: not even happy there, as one might hope, but miserable. Before he died he wrote a letter home to the Senate. 'May all the Gods and Goddesses visit me with more utter destruction than I feel I am daily suffering.' Think of those who came after him. Caligula. Nero."
It was not until I finished this book that I came to the realization of just how important this passage is. Ironic, isn't it? Page 41 out of 559, my favorite passage of this book and in the end it brings the entire story together. I wonder, if you will understand its meaning.
Richard is the lucky soul to tell the story.
I've been sitting here attempting to give you insight to each character. The progression is so extremely profound that I 1) could never do them justice and 2) am unable to do so without giving away what will surely be some of the most intriguing characters you will ever read. The character progression in this story is by far one of the most incredible I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
I will quote a few passages and be done with it.
The sky was fierce, burning blue, the trees ferocious shades of red and yellow. Francis, barefoot and still in his bathrobe, stepped precariously over rocks and branches, balancing in his glass of ginger ale. Once we got to the lake he waded in, up to his knees, and beckoned dramatically like Saint John the Baptist.
We took off our shoes and socks. The water near the bank was clear, pale green, cool over my ankles, and the pebbles at the bottom were dappled with sunlight. Henry, in coat and tie, waded out to where Francis stood, his trousers rolled to the knee, an old-fashioned banker in a surrealistic painting. A wind rustled through the birches, blowing up the pale undersides of the leaves, and it caught in Camilla's dress and billowed it out like a white balloon. She laughed, and smoothed it down quickly, only to have it blow out again.
"It was heart-shaking. Glorious. Torches, dizziness, singing. Wolves howling around us and a bull bellowing in the dark. The river ran white. It was like a film in fast motion, the moon waxing and waning, clouds rushing across the sky. Vines grew from the ground so fast they twined up the trees like snakes; seasons passing in the wink of an eye, entire years for all I know....I mean we think of phenomenal change as being the very essence of time, when it's not at all. Time is something which defies spring and winter, birth and decay, the good and the bad, indifferently...."
This is a heart-wrenching story of six friends suffering from trauma, betrayal, unworldly experimentations, lies, deceit, genius schemes with an absolute unsurpassed brilliance!
With all of that said, the character progression, the relationships alone make this book a MUST READ. For those of you without an active thinking brain, I suggest you purchase a pocket dictionary, otherwise you will be unable to appreciate the complexity of the story.
I will never read this book again. Regardless of the brilliant characters, I found myself struggling, suffering, dry-eyed blinking my way through the pages as if I was running down the Poltergeist hallway which led me forward to an unreachable destination. I finished the book this morning, plopped it roughly down onto the couch and took a deep, relieved breath. Done!
I recommend this book to teenagers and adults. I do not recommend this book to younger eyes due to the sheer trauma that even the reader will experience. Children do not need to let their minds live through what these characters endure.
Positively outstanding! Heartbreaking. All-consuming jealousy. Misunderstandings. Assassinations. Sexy love triangles.
The Hunters series by Shiloh WalPositively outstanding! Heartbreaking. All-consuming jealousy. Misunderstandings. Assassinations. Sexy love triangles.
The Hunters series by Shiloh Walker is amazing! If you are a Laurell K. Hamilton; Anita Blake fan, this is the series for you!
Eli is an old vampire who is falling in love with Tori, his best friend's mate. Sharing a sexual and loving relationship, the trio have a special bond that links them together in pleasure and pain.
Being hunter by a witch, Eli is incautious and finds himself trapped in more ways than one. Locked in a dreamlike world with a trusted friend and the woman who tried to kill him, he is yanked from one state of mind to the next.
Thanks to the bond, Tori and Declan are made aware of a dire injury that Eli sustains.
Sarel has been grieving, mourning and raging ever since her mother and little sister were slaughtered by the vampire she hunts. Being a strong witch, she is able to perform a blood spell that will surely kill the person it is aimed at.
Denied love. Betrayed feelings. Sarel is sent away. Far away for five long years.
This book is amazing and I would like to thank Erin Jamison for recommending this author to me. Two books into the series and I know that Shiloh Walker will become one of me new favorite authors.
Filled with extremely descriptive sexual content. Threesomes, sodomy, jealousy and rage. Eli and Sarel's story will most definitely not leave you wanting.
I recommend this book to mature adults only. As I said above, extreme sexual content. Moderate violence. This is a paranormal erotica book, so please people ... use your brains before allowing your young adult to brave the world of The Hunters.
One of the things I love about paranormal erotica is that I am rarely often disappointed. Even if the book is a cHow very disappointing. Total bummer.
One of the things I love about paranormal erotica is that I am rarely often disappointed. Even if the book is a complete flop, the sexual content keeps me from dying from boredom.
Byron is just another lonely 100-century-old vampire who spends his night hunting child rapists and abusers.
Kit is a werewolf and daughter of his best friend who promised to watch over here and see to her happiness. How about that for a dying request?
He struggles against his attraction of her. She struggles and rages as she watches him bed woman after woman. Flaunting threesomes, requesting her presence knowing she'd witness him screwing some woman in one orifice as another man takes whatever other hole he chooses.
I really don't have a whole hell of a lot to say about this book. It began as thrilling and interesting. I was intrigued. This story is short and...boring :(
I am glad that I finished it before the day is up and am now moving on to Jonathan and Lori's story.
I recommend this book to mature adults only ... and only those reading this series. Otherwise, what's the point? Strong yet brief and unimaginative sexual content with some mild to moderate violence.
