I know I am the odd one out here who didn't enjoy this book. It did have a promising start. But then I met the 'Dragon' and things started going downhill. He was described as an immortal, a master of dark sorcery and a nice but closed off man. I thought I was going to meet my new book bf!, but no. He was inconsiderate and boring, moody and sulky. The female lead is this special girl who just discovered she's a witch and can cast spells and do magic. Otherwise she's very plain and even the magic system was baffling. The pacing was abrupt. One minute there's nothing much going on, I am just reading unnecessary descriptions and the next minute, she's saving her village and I am like, "what just happened?" (not in a good way). I took breaks thinking maybe I am the one who's just not in the mood for it, but even when I came back to it, nothing changed. It literally gave me a headache and I fell asleep in the middle of reading (which I rarely do unless I am exhausted). Even at 25%, I couldn't connect with the characters (that's the first thing I look for in my books), so I know it's not for me. I decided not to force it and maybe come back to it one day since there must be a reason many love this book. Hope there'll be some character development and the story gets better. Until then, I am off to reading books that can actually keep me invested throughout!...more
