SHORT SWEET - BEGINNER M/M BDSM
A Perfect Solution may be the perfect way to ease into m/m bdsm. There isn’t anything dark or even too twisted here and the friends to lovers romance turns out sweet.
THE CHARACTERS
River - “River sashayed right into my heart. I like boys who know how to sashay and River seems to excel at it. He also bounces, pouts and flings himself, dramatically.
River’s grin took on that manic edge they’d all learned to be wary of. He shoved at Jeff’s shoulder playfully. “I’m not jumping, silly; I’m bouncing. The way he reverently breathed the word “bouncing was enough to show exactly just what kind of frenetic state he’d already whipped himself into.
Jeff - A little grumpy, a little grouchy, but also the mother-hen of the band. Jeff likes to keep his ducks in a row, but River is just always out of line. Let’s see if Jeff has a way to whip his best friend into shape. Btw, there is no whipping in this story.
It felt so good to just hold River close in the quiet of the night, like he was already taking good care of him; Jeff had never wanted anything more than that. He tried to tell himself he’d never need more than that.
THE STORY
River is the hyper lead singer of Caged Hearts. The band has achieved success, meaning they live their lives on the road, with each other...all the time. Luckily they all get along well, it’s just that River can’t seem to settle after a night on stage. Someone has to help him calm down and that task falls to Jeff. Fortunately, Jeff has the perfect solution to help River. Unfortunately, the solution just uhunsettles Jeff.
This is a delightful, little, first-timer bdsm. Have no fear here. However, have no high expectations of deep, dark whips, chains and leather either. This is a kinder, gentler bdsm story and the best parts are the discussions and negotiations that bring these two lovers together. I think their talk on the bus is my favorite part.
THE WRITING
I found the writing to be slightly stiff in places, but over all competent. As the story builds things smooth out.
I might wish for a bit of River’s pov, but this was written from Jeff’s perspective. I suppose that’s just because I enjoyed River’s character so much and wanted more of him. Who know’s, maybe there’s more to come. In any event, I'd like to read more from A.E. Lawless.

FUN - SWEET - SEXY - FEEL GOOD - DIFFERENT
Nicole did a great job of combining a dash of PNR with a sexy firefighter element. While this is a quick, short read all the blanks are filled in to make this a delight. I want more, but it's complete as is.
You can probably read this on your lunch hour, so give yourself a treat and enjoy this first release by Nicole Forcine. I can't wait to read more from her. Especially if it's Max's sexy-shifter story :)
Thanks M/M Romance Group and LHNB for bringing us this treat!

Terrell?â€ Colby muttered, rubbing the sweat falling off his forehead onto Terrell’s back. â€Ô¨±ð²¹³ó?â€ “I hope you knowâ€ you know it’s not like this with just anyone, right?â€ °Ú…] “It’s special to me,â€ he said honestly. “That’s all the fuck I know.â€
So there’s this first kiss in this story that get’s interrupted and it just crushed me. There was something about the description of that kiss that had me right there, right in the moment. I think I became Terrell. Literally the interruption made me gasp.
THE CHARACTERS
The past half an hour, laughing, eating, talking it was like it had never existed, and in its place was Terrell’s driving need not to be gay
Terrell Washington - He grew up poor, black and gay. He’s still trying to come to terms with some of those things. He admits he’s angry, but he’s not a drag. He just needs to find some hope.
Or was that just maybe Colby’s magical superpower he made guys who weren’t supposed to be gay want him.
Worst. Superpower. Ever.
Colby Meyers - Colby is everyone’s dream guy. Golden and shining and honorable and beautiful. I thought I wasn’t going to see what Colby saw in Terrell (you know how that is sometimes? How you get one characters attraction, but not the others?), especially with this being from Terrell’s POV. But that wasn’t the case at all. I saw Colby falling in love with Terrell all the way through this book. Maybe because I was falling in love with him too.
THE STORY
Bolt-Hole is about two men who have become close friends over the past year. Luckily for Terrell, Colby is a planner and has been planning to get even closer to Terrell. A murder occurs at their workplace and I was expecting that to be the “hook for this story. It’s not really, or it wasn’t for me. For me it was about prejudice and differences and similarities and finding a way to love and be loved.
Told from Terrell’s perspective you might expect this to be a bit of a downer, but it isn’t at all. He’s got baggage, but he’s finally got someone who lifts some of the weight.
THE WRITING
I’ve come to really enjoy Amy Lane’s writing. It isn’t spectacular or earth shattering, but it’s solid every time and it has the ability to draw me in, make me care about the characters and deliver a dependable, enjoyable romance.
This isn’t to say that there aren’t some tummy clenching moments and tingle-inducing scenes. There are. It’s just that the writing is so easy, the poignant moments so fluid, that you don’t get too bogged down in the dramatics.
