If I have to describe them with one word that word would be: BADASS !!!
What more can I say? This is the first thing that comes to mind. The hole way the books are written is a game of the ridicules immaturity of the characters or a show of how tough they are! At times I couldn`t decide if they are some bratty little shits or they could be an actual adults with such behavior. I guess in this case again the writing just grows on you. You either take or you not.
If I have to describe them with one quote that quote would be:
I'm a fighter. I believe in the eye-for-an-eye business. I'm no cheek turner. I got no respect for a man who won't hit back. You kill my dog, you better hide your cat. Muhammad Ali, The Greatest My Own Story
I found it in the American Savages and I can`t get it out of my head It fits so well !!! It is simple... fundamental, animalisticaly barbarian and so true.
If I have to describe the plot: it is all Mafia.
It`s about the never ending struggle for power and winning about crushing everybody who is against you and who is in your way. There is a love story but it`s not between the main characters it`s between the main characters and thir thirst for power. With that said these books turned out to be great thriller read. I got engrossed so much in all the secrets, twists... even action. I was hooked it`s never boring, there is always something happening and a new player tries his best to bring down The Ruthless People and all comes back to the question "Who is the most powerful among them?" That`s a secret I`ll never tell xoxo Gossip girl... Kidding I couldn`t help it!
If I have to describe one character: .... as I said it`s a Mafia book it has to have a Boss... meet Melody...
I know Liam, you are sharing but we all know who is the real Boss here Yes it`s Bitchy Melody. Well Melody is just something else! I have never met another heroine like her! She is the most ruthless and the most powerful... she is everything and then even more! I hated her, I tried to understand her, I wanted to see her change, I even wanted to see her weak but through it all she stayed thru to herself and didn`t give me an inch... The Bitch.
If I have to describe the author:
J.J. McAvoy most likely will go to my romance classics for sure. With this series JJ McAvoy took her rightful place in the Mafia world. She is an author whose work will give us something to look for.
This review and all other reviews aren`t able to describe fully all there is about the Ruthless People. There is so much more this is like scratching only the surface of The Ruthless People series. I went through so much: love, family, war, power, victory... The question is would you too ? ;) ...more

The Arrangement gives an interesting look on the arranged marriage.
The H/h have actual feelings toward each other. They fell in love when they were teenagers and deep down they both stayed faithful and didn`t let anybody else in their hearts. I am saying hearts because after that they get separated for nearly ten years.
I liked the start of the book and then the heroine agrees to marry her lovely Russian. From there on the story loses somehow it`s intensity, we see how loving Anton is and we are promised a secret.
A read in some review that the secret is reviled around the 60% mark but I am so bored with the story already that I even don`t care what is the big secret.
Adding and the fact that there are 3 published and 2 more to beÂ… I am sorry but I am so done with the story and the series. ...more

The story is about a community trying to survive a zombie apocalypses. I especially liked that the story was taking place in an old castle which was giving the feeling that you are send back in time where princesses and heroes were something normal. But then again we are reminded what awaits beyond the castle walls.
Like every castle this one also has a princess - Olivia. I absolutely loved Olivia. She is strong, stubborn funny and you can`t not like her. She is raised by her father one day to take over her people and rule them. While her father had same archaic believes and under his rule of the castle I could forget that the book is set in the future with Olivia I got the leader of the future.
Olivia was sheltered and she never left the walls of the castle but she was fair and took very seriously her role as a leader and here comes Dane. A queen needs her king right!
On her 21 birthday Olivia has to choose her future husband and she chose Dane. Dane leads the soldiers when they go beyond the walls to search food and supplies. Yup we have a favorite of mine an arranged marriage! So as you can imagine Dane is survived zombie apocalyptic badass with a wife he never wanted. There are some friction between the new family but Dane gets in full Neanderthal mode pretty quickly."Mine", "Nobody touches you" and the incredibly hot possessive rage here and there... ooh and he growls!
Beyond is well written sweet love story of two people who are trying to make the best of what they have in one broken world. It`s not so far from our own. They are doing everything in their power to survive and their little kingdom was full of hope for a better times. Loved it!!!

Second... I absolutely adored Bound by Honor and I said that Cora Reilly wrote it just for me. Well she probably saw it and though that it wasn`t enough and she gave me Bound by Duty. That book blew my mind... it was even better! I am dying to read Bound by Hatred and I am not sure that by the time I reach THE END there will be anything left of meÂ…. [image]
Yes, you guessed I loved the book. I loved the cover, the blurb, the prologue, the writhing, the characters, the story, the romance! What I want to say is that this book gave me the ultimate reading experience. I got what everybody wants when picking up a new book. It doesn`t matter if you have read everything by the author or this is the first book of a new author. If you are in the mood or the topic of the book is meaningful or anything else. The best and most important thing is to enjoy yourself. It`s amazing when the book speaks your language when you want more and more and you just fly by the pages with real gusto. We give ratings, write reviews, bring in gifs and it`s all because we share the pleasure of reading. With this book I got a couple of hours (well maybe more, I am not so fast) with a GoodRead. Goal achieved! I am paying my respects to the author. Thank you!!! [image]
Aside from my melodramatic outbursts Bound by Duty was masterfully told story about yes, no surprise.. the Duty that both Dante and Valentina had in the mafia world. I found Dante and Valentina significantly more mature. There weren`t silly dreams of a different life there was a determination to get what they want. Valentina was the perfect women to stand by Dante. And please... like he had a chanceÂ…... he was a goner. Their love story was slow and that made it believable because even that Valentina`s marriage wasn`t real Dante`s was. And he was a grieving man who insisted to be cold and death inside The Ice Prince. That only proved to me that Dante was capable of very strong and deep feelings which Valentina just had to have the patience to earn. And she did = HEA!!!
Well, how not to love that attitude.... that also was what made me i*ARC provided in exchange of honest opinion*
Don’t just fight the system…burn it.
Well, how not to love that attitude.... that also was what made me interested in the book.
Bridges Burned is the story of Bryn. Even though the fantasy genre is not my typical read I wanted to get a feel of the book. After the 2% mark I knew I would get lost in this book. Every time I picked Bridges Burned it was like returning to a good friend. Bryn took my hand and whispered all her secrets in my ear. In the past I have shared my problem with caring for the books heroine and Chris Cannon managed to rock my reading universe! I loved Bryn and I was happy to be sucked in her world.
The other main character in the book was the Dragon Society. The dragons are considered cold and rational creators and Bryn is nothing like it. I loved how she kept staying true to herself and how everybody around her didn`t know what to do with her. Without revealing major plot developments I will just say that Bryn has a way of leaving her mark and nobody is safe in the Dragon world.
Because if Bryn can’t adapt to the status quo…well, then maybe it’s time for her to change it.
Her love life is a total mess also because of the Dragon society!!! Her boyfriend has a marriage contract with someone else. And Bryn herself is on the way of getting one. Let`s not forget her Knight and the madness can begin.
What I didn`t like in the book is the absence of strong male presence. Even with Zavien, Jaxon and Valmont... I don`t see any real love interest for Bryn. Now if you combine the tree of them well that will be one fine dragon! And Bryn deserves her one true love even more because she is the living evidence of her parents strong love. By the end I didn`t know with whom I wanted to see her and the legend about the Dragon and her knight kept popping up. There might be something there...
I can`t wait to hear about Bryn`s new adventures in Going Down in Flames # 3!!!...more

I was minding my own business. And I was shelving my books on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and in order to that I had to go trough by books and let me tell you I have so many great book... but little time... shocker! ...and I stumbled upon Bound by Honor.
I have a thing. A thing for an arranged marriages. [image] Mobster and an arranged marriage. My personal reading heaven!!!I will take any recommendation about arranged marriage!!! Pronto!!!
I started reading about Aria. At 15 she finds out that she is going to marry Luca Vitiello "The Vice". From then on she is taking us with her in her world and in her marriage. Aria was sheltered, innocent and very naive 18 years old girl. Getting married to a made man called The Vice it`s not a fairy tale but Luca was very romantic in his mobsterish way. He was extremely pationed, crazy possessive - that`s always a good thing and I loved his bloodied shirts - not to forget a killer.
I liked the authors decisions made regarding the story. I feel that if she had chosen to take a different direction it would have been unrealistic or a cliche. I anticipated the natural progression of the love story between Aria and Luca. Aria was very frightened and skittish around Luca but I liked that she wasn`t hard because of the life she was born in. And to her light Luca`s darkness balanced them. In the end they were stronger together.

Bound by Honor was a book that sucks you in and doesn`t let go until you see The End. At first I gave it 4 stars but I still can`t stop thinking about the book and I couldn`t put it down before I finished it. I missed this kind of books and the excitement, the pure bliss or just reading it. The thing that I didn`t like about it is that the next one is not out yet. I usually don`t have this problem and I can control myself... but with this one I feel physical pain I want it that much! Now I will have to bury myself in more Mobsters...poor me. ...more
