Is it possible for the past to repeat, but you can’t change its course? OR you can change it and turn it downside up ?
dialing.. 5-S-T-A-R-S!
PS: I don't use decimals in rating books. I stick to the exact 1-5 scheme.
Though I was excited about Rainbow Rowell’s new book, I haven't started reading Landline right away after its release. Reasons:
1. I don't know if I'm ready for another Rainbow Rowell book.
(I've read all her 3 previous books this year. Even though I liked them pretty much, it still seems like having a Rowell Overload. You know what I mean.)
2. I'm honestly not interested with its synopsis.
3. I'm not yet married. Aaand I'm just freaking 18 years old. How can I enjoy the story?
4. I don't know if I'll love it as much as her other books.
5. It has several not-so-good reviews.
6. I'm not really interested. Did I say it again?
But who cares?! I love Rainbow Rowell , so let's settle here. Rowell, in most bookworms' perspective writes superbly realistic plots. The author is known to catch all hearts of all ages (except a baby of course).
As I have said so, I wasn't interested to read this book before (read its synopsis, and you'll realize that you don't even need to ask me why). I'm so young for the story, so I was thinking that I won't connect with it. The beginning of the story was quite a turn down. It truly had a meh start. Eek. I was bored at first where nothing important happens plus I am bothered by Georgie's (the protagonist) thoughts although she's really funny. Few chapters went through in a lonely speed, then I was like... woah! Wait. This is getting better! While reading Chapters 10 and 11, I was already ecstatic! My heart started to beat in rhythms and huaaalaaah!! *wi-fi connected* I finally appreciated the story. I have no idea that I'll connect with the story so easily. Great job, Rowell!
About the characters, they have their own unique personalities as usual. They are under different situations, which added more excitement and completed the essence of the story. Well, Alice and Noomi are so so so so adorable. Meow! Cutie patooties candy sprinkes with ice cream and cherries and chocolate and strawberries and blueberries and raspberries and berries. I want to eat the two kids! Haha! Just kidding! *burps*
Georgie may sometimes be irritating and annoying. Take note, her real name is Georgie McCool! Cool name, isn’t it? Aaaah! The story why she didn’t take Neal Grafton’s last name is so precious. La la la la LOVE. So Neal is her husband. the boy who has dimples but doesn’t smile ! I know most people who have read Landline didn’t like Neal’s personality, but I looooove him. He’s so sweet and thoughtful though he doesn’t show it. I like his personality even though he doesn’t seem like the Augustus Waters kind of guy. Rowell is magnificent in capturing the reality. Her characters aren’t perfect. They have flaws. THEY HAVE REAL PERSONALITIES OF REAL PEOPLE. She writes beautiful fiction without hiding the non-fiction world. That’s what I love about how Rowell writes. She shares the experience to the readers, and let them feel what’s inside the characters and their emotions. This book successfully presents how real relationships work, how sacrifices are needed to be done, and how love fixes things.
It has an up and down romance, but the flashbacks gave me this my-heart-is-melting-I-can’t-breathe condition. It also has these Christmasy feels where I wanted to sit in front of the fireplace and drink tea while reading the book (except that we don't have a fireplace). They are perfect together even though their relationship isn’t perfect, so they must try to fix what they can and not give up their marriage. The story has also this amazing concept. *ehem* *the yellow telephone* (You’ll find out when you read the book.) The concept added some pinch of mystery and excitement to it. The ending was really smooth and fluffy and cuddly aaannd- I LOVE THE ENDING so much!!! I am satisfied and happy on how it ended.
I will keep this review as it is to avoid spoiling, but I’ll give you one hint! MAGIC!
How can you go to the past and fix the present? MAGIC!
NEAL 1998? MAGIC!
Why is it entitled Landline? MAGIC!

I will do it that ^^ way instead. Though we don't have a fireplace either.
Awesome Review :)!

Hi, Isabelle! How are you doing? I haven't talked to you in a while. :)
Thank you for reading my review. Yes, this book is really good, but I think most people didn't like it. They are comparing it to her previous works, but I can't argue because Fangirl is definitely Rainbow Rowell's best book for me, but this one has a different concept, and it's deeper compared to Fangirl.

It also has these Christmasy feels where I wanted to sit in front of the fireplace and drink tea while reading the b..."
You made me laugh, Anna! Hahaha. I was desperate to feel the Christmasy feels, so I just inhaled cinnamon instead. JK!
Yessssss, me too I also loved Fangirl! It's still my favorite Rainbow Rowell book tho. <3

Wow! That's great. I'll wait for your review, Isabelle. ;-)

Awww. You made my day, Ms. Zizi! Thank you so so so much for reading my reviews. :-) <3
