“What makes you think I’m ever going to stop?
I had forgotten how all-consuming this series is for me. This world, words, men, and power completely take over my senses, thoughts, and daydreams. It’s why I read--to find this kind of dynamic, chemistry, and magic on the page. I thank the stars above and every reading god out there that I found this series. Especially.
PANCAKES! I have gushed all about Pancakes before though, so this time out my focus is on Surprises. How could I forget the power of Surprises? Of course, I remembered the gift. I could never forget that well-orchestrated, perfect moment in the mirror. Toreth watching Warrick’s reaction and face. *sigh* But there are so many other unexpected tidbits here. From ex-wives to Sara cooking to conversations going surprisingly well. :D The hits just keep on coming! But my biggest surprise was the humor
really don’t think we should start pillaging the refreshments for immoral purposes.
Smiles, laughter, hiccups, and kisses! It was so much fun seeing these two intelligent, guarded, powerful men act like two “hormonally crazed teenagers. And who would have guessed Toreth even had a gift-giving impulse? The bastard hides his romantic side down deep to avoid the panic, but oh—it is there. It dazzles, shocks, and takes my breath away in ways only Toreth can.
I read this story three times before I could move on to the next one. I wanted to stay right there on the buffet table, behind the curtain giggling, taking, submitting, and listening to Warrick. Being in Warrick’s head is a rare privilege and one I savor every time we get the opportunity. Both Warrick and Toreth are so unique in how they move through the world and how they express and share their emotions. They fit so well together! I adore watching it all unfold again and again.

Yes, I'm interesting in this question too!;) I know that you like both books, but I can't imagine that you'll say that you prefer ICoF to TA, Laura! I'm then very saaaaaaaaaaaaad! :))

It's for sure difficult to compare, but in TA the relationship between Warrick and Toreth is the main storyline, and all around are just tools for it!

I like the idea of that. because all these long missions/trainings etc are tiring me out!

I wrote first- "and the focus of ICoF is a MISSION and AGENCY", but then deleted it. I don't want to talk about the writing. You can imagine what I think.

It's not really bad. I think the average YA/NA romance these days are much worse. At least I'm not focusing on the writing. But like I said - the original. The original version has way too many useless details.

I'm sure that you would have never moved to the book2 if you had read the original version of Evenfall. I know that many real fans don't like the edited version as much as the original one, I can't understand why, but I could never build this connection to the MCs in ICoF, so I couldn't judge really. It was just a book that didn't met my expectations at all.

I was thinking the same. The original version could have tired me out enough to drop it.

I remember that I love, for example, the original version of SF more than the edited one! I was afraid to miss something important-everything was important for me in this book. Maybe it depends how much you love a book.

I actually thought that the first book of SF didn't need shortenning, but the rest of the series could've done with less details of Dan's escapades.

The first book is my all time fav book. I read it even twice. The rest belongs to the series, and it's not bad but it just doesn't fit with the first book. But nevertheless I love the series. It's maybe not perfect but it's something special.

I agree. But like you, if I ever re-read it, I'll just go for the first book. To me, that was the best too.

Crashing in...great review Laura, I need to re-read asap! Seing your updates through Lena is a lot of fun!
As for comparing these 3 series... I love doing that:-) They are so different from each other. I just wonder if Irina will like TA, since shenlikes ICOS, haha. Sorry, im really not a fan of that series, but adore TA and SF. Imo, they are more mature and original. The emotional depth and complexity shown by some characters is awesome. Or as Laura put it, in TA, the MCs really are unique! Boyd and Hsin are like children in comparison...
Poor you Irina, if you ever start TA, we will be all over your updates like fungus:-)

I've noticed that I'm sometimes more happy when my GR friends don't like something that I don't like and that everyones like than if they like something that I like that everyone likes too! :)) I'm totally agree and happy that you, Therese, can support me in my not ADDICTION of ICoF! :) Well, I think I don't like it even more than you, because I wasn't able to follow it further. And the reviews that I read after and the updates that I saw only convinced me in my decision not to read further. And I'm happy to admit that I convince some readers with a very big expectations considering TA who had problems with the first book to read farther! And that they ALL loved it after!*me proud* :))

TA is on my list to read as well. Then I'll be able to join the GREAT DEBATE above. My thoughts up to now are
SF loved. Especially Soldiers and the first part of Mercenaries.
ICOS - I'm slowing getting through the 2nd Evenfall
TA - to read.

Sofia, if you feel like having some company, let me know please. It sounds like we'll need some support through this.

Exactly. How about March?

Hi Baba! Thanks. I love these two guys!
Em—Enjoy the ride! It is unforgettable and addictive.
Thanks, Ingela. Yes, you must get back to them. Haha…It’s hard to keep up with all the series though—isn’t it? Happy reading.
@Evil Cat—Warrick’s cure for hiccups had me grinning ear to ear! :D

With TA—I live and breathe by the characters and Manna. Gorgeous, exquisite writing! Toreth, Warrick, Sara, and CARNAC! (My nails always dig into my palms whenever I see or say his name.) make it one of my favorite series to visit again and again. They get under my skin. I love being there in their world—the power and control linger with me. They stay in my head for weeks after. Addictive reads! I can’t explain it really without sounding a bit nuts. Haha
And Special Forces. *sigh* Well I can’t even put that series in a category. I found SF in a time of my life when I needed to—it will always have a special spot in my heart. Plus it has it all—beautiful writing, two characters to love and swear at! Haha…And the emotion! So much emotion.
Hope that answered your question—sort of. :) I can’t and don’t pick one series over another. They are so different from each other in mood, time, worlds, and men. I adore them all for what each one can pull out of me—make me feel.
Sofia and Irina—You must meet these guys—and Manna. I’ll be stalking ya! ;)
Thanks, Rachel! *waves*

Ira I reserved the second half of March, so that we do TA in peace :)
