This book is set in the time period of the late twenties to post WW2. Augie March is the middle child of a Jewish mother raising her children alone. Augie is mentored by various people who take him under their wing. Augie describes himself as oppositional but this is only quietly displayed. Augie goes on a series of adventures (like Huck Finn?) and he also could be compared to Tom Jones as he goes through a series of love affairs. I liked this book but the author is not a breeze to read. He strings together adjectives, nouns and verbs and nade-up words.
