A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)

I'm not heavily into fantasy but after watching the first season on TV, I suddenly developed some serious withdraw so I decided to read the books. I was a little worried that reading about what I'd already seen would be boring but it was not. I was not disappointed at all. It's not very often that you find a book which is well written, tells a great and intricate story and has fascinating characters that you can't wait to learn more about. This is one of them.
I marvel at how complicated yet well thought out the plot, sub-plots and back stories are. I guess because I read a lot of historical fiction based on factual events, I sometimes forget how inventive fictional plots can be. The characters too are remarkably realistic and believable yet all so different from each other. This easily ranks among my favorites now.
