The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

This was one of the best books I have ever read. It only receives four stars however because of swearing and the characters are at times a little too sacrilegious for me. Other than that I recommend this book highly. It gives a good picture of WWII and the aftermath of it through the perspective of some (make-believe) characters that you wouldn't have thought of. It is heart wrenching at times, but the plot is warm and interesting enough to keep the reader going happily. The main character is full of wit, sometimes a little irreverent, but you can't help but like her.
