A model of theatrical adaptation, this play captures the essence of Lindgren's novel and suggests a very complex production, a potential showcase for the unique magic that can be created on stage. It's very unlikely that I'll ever see a production... but I can dream!

Note: the play is about 70 pages long, and the book includes cast & crew bios and an almost 20-page-long diary (kept by the assistant director) of the original production.

Quotes Adam Liked

Torgny Lindgren
“Justice is like an invisible creature that flees before us. As long as we keep chasing it, we have it. It's the constant seeking for law and justice that constitutes law and justice. . . . All confusion and disorder and disintegration is just semblance and illusion. Law and order endure in secret. Truth and justice are not a conjuring trick.”
Torgny Lindgren, Light
