Next Year in Israel - a young adult novel about a sixteen-year-old who goes on a trip to Israel to get over her been-bullied issues after a suicide attempt.
The Undiscovered Novelist - a contemporary novella about a twenty-seven-year-old trying to break into the publishing industry.

Well said!
This is actually a great thread to have--a terrific opportunity for authors AND for bloggers/reviewers who might appreciate a single thread offering news about new/forthcoming books they might wish to cover. And it's much nicer than having authors start new threads for individual books. Thank you very much!

My book, "There's Jews in Texas" is the winner of the 2011 national contest put on by Poetica Magazine. If you're a member of Amazon Prime, you can borrow the book for free. Visit my website, for a sample poem. If you want more, you can use Amazon's "read inside" feature as they show a different poem there. And at that point you're compelled to get your own copy, fantastic. Enjoy!

I would like to draw the readers' attention to A Life Lived Ridiculously.

Here's the blurb:
When a girl with obsessive compulsive disorder falls in love with a sociopath, she must fight for her sanity and her life.
Maxine’s brain is stuck. Everything around her feels wrong and the only way to fix it is to check, double-check, rearrange and count everything. What Maxine can’t fix though is her parents constant nagging over the absence of a Jewish husband. A humiliation that is further compounded when her younger brother runs off with Miss Perfect. Then she meets Sam, a smooth-talking charmer with the weight of the world on his shoulders, and enough terminal diseases to wipe out a small village. Maxine decides that Sam is her salvation, never mind that his life is more depressing than a Greek tragedy, and others are urging her to get away from him. The problem is that Sam has Maxine under his spell. Will Maxine escape from Sam before it is too late?

ADELE is a quirky mystery set in NYC, about a rabbi's mother who's also glamorous and a lot of fun. She begins solving mysteries from her son, the rabbi's, synagogue community. It's a fast, easy read, and I like to think of it as a "Jewish miracle story."
I would deeply appreciate your support and interest!

Vampires in kippot?
The Orunameh are an unusual mix of vampires and humans, Jews and Gentiles, living in a symbiotic relationship. They quietly integrate into whatever society they live in--from rural Tennessee to the Old City of Jerusalem.
But their peaceful existence is being threatened by a strange new type of vampire that seems bent on their destruction. Could it be that they did something to create their own worst enemy?
Acceptance is Book One of the Acceptance Trilogy.

sounds very interesting.

I hope you will consider my new book, YOU SAVED ME, TOO: WHAT A HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR TAUGHT ME ABOUT LIVING, DYING, LOVING, FIGHTING AND SWEARING IN YIDDISH, which just came out this month. It has received starred reviews from Kirkus and Publisher's Weekly. It's the story of my 14+ year friendship with an Auschwitz survivor, and explores what it means to be a good Jew, how to find a soulmate and thoughts on how the Jewish community treats survivors. It's also funny. I would be so grateful if you'd take a look and spread the word if you like what you read. - Yours, Susan Kushner Resnick

"A witty, sharp novel that explores the way age, illness and parenting drive even the strongest characters toward growth and redemption." It's a Boston-based story of female friendship and how the dark humor of two mothers keeps them afloat during the worst of times.

looks good!

The mission goes awry and Morrison is captured and sentenced to death. Through a quirk of fate, he is instead sent to the infamous Russian prison on Solovetsky Island. There, his increasingly violent nature allows him to eventually dominate the camp as ‘Moryak (Russian for Sailor). He soon catches the eyes of the Bolshevik prisoners and their growing interactions come to have devastating effects on the evolving revolution in Russia, as well as the Allied war effort as the world descends into the chaos of World War I.
One of the dominant themes of the book is one common to many Jewish immigrants in the late 19th-early 20th century. As many tried to assimilate as Americans, they endured a never-ending struggle to belong, but found they never really were able to belong. Drawing on my grandfather’s experience as well as meticulous research, the world of the Jewish immigrant experience in Lower East Side of New York City is recreated through Morrison’s eyes, as well as the Jewish experience at the United States Naval Academy in the late 19th century.
Readers interested in the Russian Revolution, the United States Navy (I have served nearly three decades as a US Navy physician), and the Jewish immigrant experience in New York City will find the book of interest. It is available on Amazon.com and more reviews are available on my website . I am having a giveway of 5 copies of Moryak through November 15. Much thanks for your attention!

Thank you Anastasia!

I'm a Boston civil rights attorney. I returned from Guantanamo Bay after visiting two young Saudi men I represented there and told tales about the camp to my father, who as a Jewish GI had spent a year in a German prisoner of war camp. After a full minute of silence my father whispered, “We’re treating their boys worse than the Nazis treated me. I wondered how deeply evil lurks in the American soul. What would it would take for America to turn on her Jewish citizens, as had happened historically in Spain, in England, in France, in Germany. A novel, THE RELUCTANT TERRORIST, resulted.
The book is available in print and Kindle from Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I welcome comments. And thanks so much for this opportunity.

This sounds interesting (the sort of thing I contemplate sometimes), and I've put it on my wishlist.
Your cover art is really good, btw.

In an attempt to offer a brief respite in these troubled times, starting this Saturday night, at midnight, until Monday night, at midnight, I will be giving away free download copies of my book, "There's Jews in Texas?" on Amazon.com.
I am asking each person who reads this email to please publicize this event widely to everyone they know, and to send it to their Jewish friends, family and people they know would appreciate receiving a copy of the book. You do not need to have a Kindle reader to read the e-book, there is an easy download on the Amazon website you can use.
I am thankful for the amazing response this book has received, and it is my pre-Chanukah gift to you and your friends and family. You can find the book to download here:

Your book sounds inspiring and poignant. The reviews on an outside book seller website are extremely positive.

Thank you for providing this space to tell you about my book, The Wayward Moon, which recently came out with Yotzeret Publishing.
The Wayward Moon is a historical novel, set in the Middle East in the 9th century, (i.e. the Golden Age of Islam), a setting which, though not familiar to most readers, is of great interest and relevance to our own time. While the narrative describes the journey of young girl forced to flee her home, it also touches on larger themes such as inter-faith relations, the role of women in patriarchal societies and the notion of self-realization.

As one of my Amazon reviewer's stated, "I really enjoyed the spirited journey of the author as she explores her cultural transition from Argentina to the sunny shores of California. It is rich and flavorful with the innocence of youth, the understanding and perspective that comes with age and exploration. Written in an easy to read format, it is satisfying on many levels; cultural, religious, family, generational and genealogical all at once. I love her visits back to Argentina and the "coming home" to California experience. I want a sequel to be written!"

Lately we've had several people creating new discussion threads to promote their books or even provide excerpts from their books. Please DO NOT create new threads for this purpose. If you are an author, please post within the "Authors Announcing Their Books" discussion topic. We also prefer that you talk ABOUT your book rather than quote from it. Thank you!

The Canadian Jewish News said this month that Pearl Goodman, the daughter of Holocaust survivors who grew up in Toronto, has composed a humorous memoir, Peril: From Jackboots to Jack Benny. The book interweaves TV shows, ads, movies and other elements of the cultural landscape with her parents harrowing wartime experiences. Peril: From Jackboots To Jack Benny

Based on British intelligence reports pinpointing Bin Laden’s location in a safe house outside Abyan, Yemen, the project code named 'Perfect Justice' was carried out by a team of highly-trained CIA operatives, two male and two female in a commando-style raid. It was to be a Black operation, a covert CIA operation that would be conducted in absolute secrecy under the cover of official deniability.
The CIA Special Operations Group (SOG) supervisor in charge of this operation, is a battle proven 30 year old Sephardic Jewish female from the Bronx, New York. She was raised in a secular household without knowledge of her faith or culture. When asked she would reply - " I am American-that's it." But during this raid, and subsequent trials of fire in Yemen, Portugal and Lebanon, she finds she needs more than her weaponry and vast skills to confront the evils of radical Islam. - She discovers the roots of her religion through the love of an agent of the Mossad who saves her from near death... and through his kindness... on Yom Kippur she finds a peace and happiness unknown to her thus far in her life.

I am currently participating in a ŷ Giveaway of Greenhorn, my illustrated children’s novel about a young Holocaust survivor who arrives at a Brooklyn yeshiva in the 1940s with only a small box that he won't let out of his sight.
The Giveaway ends on February 17, 2013.
Greenhorn is a tough story, but many states have mandated Holocaust education, which means kids will need resources about this subject, and the publisher has made free downloads of a and for the book available from its website.
I just participated in a where I wrote about changing a "fact" of the story I heard (Greenhorn is based on a true story), something I struggled with as I wrote the book.
And you might also be interested in my about how Greenhorn got to be written and published.
Thank you for letting me be part of this group. I look forward to participating.

The book has autobiographical elements, but more than that, it is the true story of the path I did not take.

Hi there. Sounds very interesting! I've marked it as "want to read" and LIKED your Amazon page.
With Love, The Argentina Family: Memories of Tango and Kugel; Mate with Knishes

The book is a contemporary women’s fiction, a blend of mother-daughter relationship, a travel story, and a Jewish story.
After the shocking revelation that her daughter was switched at birth 34 years ago, Amanda embarks on a trip to Russia and Israel to find her biological daughter. Meanwhile Sonya, a 34-year-old Russian Jewish immigrant and a former dancer, is struggling with her daughter’s teenage rebellion. While Amanda wades through the mires of foreign bureaucracy, Sonya dreams of dancing. Both mothers are searching: for their daughters and for themselves.
The novel is available on my publisher’s website (ebook) and on Amazon (Kindle):

This Year at Home
Last year, Rebecca Levine was relentlessly bullied at school and tried to kill herself. An emotional wreck, she left for a study-abroad program in Israel. Now she has come home, ready to face the kids who tormented her—with a game plan to catch them. But things don’t go according to plan. Can Rebecca stand up for herself, and can she forgive her ex-best-friend who backstabbed her?
This 8,000 word short story is perfect for a quick read. It can be read as a stand-alone story or as the sequel to NEXT YEAR IN ISRAEL.

My book "The Debt of Tamar" is now available on Amazon! Inspired by the life and times of Dona Gracia Nasi and Josef Nasi, this story flashes back and forth from the 16th century Spain and Istanbul, to current day New York and Istanbul.
Readlately.com describes the book as "dizzyingly good," and "magnificently done." ()
Please message me if you are interested in learning more about it.
Thank you so much!
