I am trying to remember the title of a book I wanted to read, and I can't even remember enough to google it. The book wasn't science, but I _thought_ it was by one of the science & culture authors like Steven Johnson or Jared Diamond or Bill Bryson or Malcolm Gladwell or Simon Winchester or Amir Aczel (but I have checked their lists of published books and its none of those six).
Does this ring any bells?: - The thesis of the book was that despite common misconception, the world is less violent in modern times than previously. The description implied that the bulk of the book was devoted to supporting that claim and explaining why its so; communication technology, globalization, cultural changes, etc. - It was out in hardback in the last year or so.

Help?
Thanks,
