If you like a great Highlanders story that's strongly combined with historical fiction, I recommend you check out the Monica McCarty Highland Guards series. The heroes are to die for, the action is incredible and the romance is steamy.

I second The Secret and The Host.

I just signed up for a new series after reading the first book, Death at La Fenice by Donna Leon. It's a mystery set in Venice, Italy and the series name is that of the police detective, Commissario Guido Brunetti.
