Rosina | 1 comments Hi everyone

Hope you all had a good weekend.... I was still trying to recuperate from my cold/flu..managed to get some housework done...About 1/2 through my book for the other challenge...if I am still lagging on reading by tomorrow evening I will use it for this week instead of the previously selected book...

How is everyone else doing with finding the items?

Today is first day back to work for me. Hoping I wont be too tired tonight as I have to start getting parcels wrapped to be sent away for Christmas....

message 103: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) I've been kinda busy lots of running around this weekend. Not much time for sitting and reading, been listing more than, which doesn't help with this book. This week is looking rough too, Girl Scouts, PTO, and a choir concert. Yikes, hopefully I will get some down time after the kids are asleep this week.

message 104: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ My daughter had her first lego league competition this weekend which placed me a little behind in my reading as I thought I may be able to read there and didn't really happen. On top of that my book is going really sllloooowww. Someone just told me the first 3/4 of the book is slow to set up book 2 & 3 - aaahhhhh! Not sure I would have picked this book had I known that, lol. I should (hopefully) finish by Thursday.
To those that don't have kids yet just disregard my rant.
(view spoiler)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) I feel your pain, Melissa. I am now feeling lucky that science fair projects are not to be started until Winter break starts. Not sure I could handle one more thing right now. I'm not sure what her requirements are that she has to "make" but I am going to spend the day making paper beads for girl scouts. They are pretty cheap to make and easy. I'm using christmas paper to make them so they are pretty too.

message 106: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ They have a consumer/producer project. more ranting...(view spoiler)

message 107: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) It is pretty poor planning to do it this time of year. I see the musical stuff being planned around the holidays but other projects could be planned better.

message 108: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Darn it, I've missplaced my book. This is what I get for reading mutiple books at a time and moving them from bag to car, to bed room, to bag and back again. I swear I'd loose my head if it wern't attached. I've got a book I'm listening too but havent heard bone in it yet. I'll get it done, just letting you all know it may not be by Friday.

message 109: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Good luck Dawn ~ I hate when I do that with library books(really any books but sucks more with library books). Oh how the fees add up I'm almost halfway done with mine and it is picking up Yay!

message 110: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Glad I'm not the only one. It usually is my library books that run away. They know there is a deadline.

Rosina | 1 comments Week two: Bone
Book read: Trick of the Light (Trickster, #1) by Rob Thurman by Rob Thurman

Rating: 4 stars
Finished:Dec 11/12
Review:
I have read some of the Cal Leandros series and quite enjoy this authors style of writing. This is a dark urban fantasy series. The story starts out with Trixa a 30ish woman owns a bar in Las Vegas and wants to find the person who murdered her brother years ago. There are some very interesting characters in this story. There are Griffin and Zeke who were kids (15, 16)living in the alley when she found them outside her bar 10 years ago and she took them under her wing. Then there is Leo the bartender, who just calls it like it is. There are demons and angels but not your Jill Myles type of demons and angels these ones are hard core bad ass types.
During the last 150 pages I was surprised/shocked 3 times by what happened in the story. It just snuck up on me and I went WTF!!!...I needed some time to digest this book. It was a great read. i so enjoyed and I think i have the 2nd one kicking around on my TRB pile.

Items Found
Necklace
p.137....a shell NECKLACE around his neck.
Bone
p. 298....jaws even further with the crunch of BONE.
WIND
p.2.....felt the hot WIND lift my hair.....
Musical Instrument
p.183 He did have a gorgeous GUITAR as I'd seen....

ibook version

Review: I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this one as it was very slow going until about 3/4 of the way into the book. I'm glad I stuck with it though as I ended up falling in love with Gio and B as well as most of the other characters. Very interesting twist on vampires as well as interesting back story. I'm sure I will be searching out book 2 in the not too distant future.

P93......showed off her graceful neck and collar bones....
P29 He smiled when he saw the tops of her tall Doc Marten boots almost touching her knees.
P 41 ......and melancholy notes of the piano. (Musical Instrument)
P 343 Wind from wind, and so forth.

Dusty I'm still working on mine. About 80% done. Will be done tomorrow. Been one hell of a week at work. Every time I try to read I fall asleep. Not good.

message 118: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Ok so I switched my book too. On top of loosing my original one, the one I was listening to during the day while I do housework got too good to put down and I had to go get it from the library so I could read faster.

I highly suggest Across the Universe to all.

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis by Beth Revis
Read 12/10 to 12/13
5 Stars!!!!!

Review:

OH MY WOW! So this book has been on my to be read list forever, there just wasn't an urgency. But I so wish I had read it earlier.

I started listening while doing housework during the day. I had to run to the library tonight to get a hard copy because the audio version was just to slow and the kids wern't being quiet enough for me to hear. I really didn't want to put this one down. There was a mystery to it and I was pretty sure I had it figured out early on but there was just enough to doubt that I was right. However I didn't guess the last twist. Great job Ms. Revis. I will be picking up the next book as soon as I can!

Items
Bone pg 1- Her collarbone stood out more; her skin had that rice parer thin...
Rain pg182- Even though I know the rain is fake, it feels the same as real rain...
Bra pg123 - I cannot find a bra> in any of the drawers.
Shelf pg 121- On the opposite wall is a shelf and to the right of it the door

Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis

Read from December 15 to 16, 2012
5 stars

What a lovely book. This is the first I've read by Jill Shalvis. It was sweet and happy and funny. I love that it was so realistic in the day to day activities. Anyone who's had a dog knows what I am talking about. I can't wait to read more of this series and others by the author, I have a feeling she'll become one of my favorites.

Items
Sunshine- pg 94 ... while Izzy slept in the sole sun spot on the kitchen floor.

Hood- pg 77 ... the black sweater that upon closer inspection was really a North Face hoodie and had JC Builders embroidered on his pec.

Emergency Vehicle- pg 275 ...and when he passed an ambulance racing in the direction of the hospital, his heart nearly stopped

Curly Hair- pg 169 She rolled her eyes and shoved a few curls out of her face...

Conspiracy Game (GhostWalkers, #4) by Christine Feehan By Christine Feehan
completed 12/16/12

Review: This is the fourth installment of the GhostWalker series and they just keep getting better and better. This series is about physically and psychically enhanced soldiers(who chose to be enhanced) and orphaned women(who had no idea they were enhanced). Ms Feehan writes some wonderful intrigue, suspense and romance. Fell in love with the Norton twins. Her heroines are tough and capable to handle an alpha male. Briony was no different. Can't wait for Ken's book which is up next.

p58 Sunshine and flowers in a meadow.
p81 Jack propped himself up on his elbow.....
p12 .....sending a fireball into the sky
p134 The man got out of his car, removed his dark glasses......

Rosina | 1 comments Week Three:Sunshine

Book read: Witchling (Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon #1) by Yasmine Galenorn by Yasmine Galenorn

Rating: 4.5 stars
Finished:Dec 18/12
Review:
Awesome story. This is the kind of story I like. There is fantasy with dragons, fae, magic but then there is the contemporary world as well. Really enjoyed it. Will definitely continue with the series.

The story is about 3 sisters who are half human and half fae. One sister is a witch, another a shifter to a cat, and the other a vampire. They are living Earthside and their father is living Otherworld. There was so much packed into this book. I hope the series will continue to be just as good. just checked and the series is currently at #12 with 3 more planned for the future. Oh boy another series to add to my TBR.

Items Found
Sunshine (Dawn allowed sunlight)
p.70
...the SUNLIGHT was spilling through my curtains...
Bra
p.27
....no adjusting her boobs in her BRA.
fruit - Grapes
p.113
It was made of the finest GRAPES in Otherworld.
Tail
p.185
Delilah flicked her TAIL and began stalking the rodent...

That one has been on my radar for a while . I tried to read her Night Myst, and I didn't like the main character enough to finish it. That one sounds better. It is always good to have some Y's for challenges.

message 149: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ I actually read the first one and it was just ok for me. I think it was alittle too much to take in and I didn't really like the main character. But it is good to have a Y in your pocket so to speak. I have the second in the series sitting on my book shelf.
