To read a total of 100,000 pages to knock this tower off

There is no pages limitation per book so you can claim picture books however the page number has to be unique per reader. That is each book you read will have different page numbers; you can only claim the number 251 (pages) once per reader.

The number of pages to be claimed will be determined by the edition that you read so please link the book to your specific edition. However, if you have read large print / audiobook / ebook, we will use the number of pages listed on the most popular edition of the book on GR (ie. the book on the top of the ‘Other Edition�� list). If your book is only in digital edition and does not include page numbers, then we will not allow it for this tower (this is just to make it easier for us to keep score).

Do we have to report what book we will be reading and the number of pages or do we just report it after were finished reading it?

I guess what I'm trying to say is do we have to reserve the pagecount?

I don't think we have to reserve the # of pages because different players can have the same number of pages (unlike other towers) but each player can have the same number of pages only once.

Meaning that both you and I can post a book with 384 pages but once we claim that number of pages, we cannot do so again.

Now I have a question about the number of pages. Do we strictly with what GR says? Because I know sometimes the number of pages are way out there.

DG, if the pages of the book you are reading are very different from the same ISBN listed on GR, a librarian can adjust it for you. She will verify it with another resource but usually will take the number from your book-in-hand as more reliable than the GR data.

@Jo Ann: DG is correct, no reservation is necessary however only unique pagecount per reader is allowed (hence no planning thread)

@DG: If the specific ed you read has different number pages than what GR says then please note it when you report your reading. We'd go by what you have on your hand.

The problem is that I'll be mostly reading ebooks/audiobooks so I won't have ways to compare to any printed issue.

for this one (specifically) - ebooks with no print versions don't count; audiobooks - use the most popular version here on goodreads

ah, for ebook/audiobook, we'll stick with the pages for the most popular edition (usually the one on the top of the list of 'Other Edition')

Yes I know that. But that doesn't mean that the pages of the most popular edition is not wrong either. :) I find books with wrong pages all the time and I correct them if I have the printed version of the book (I'm a librarian.) I just wanted to make sure that it's not as if we have to hunt printed versions to verify and go with whatever GR says.

Yes, LynnB, you can only use a book once and... I just noticed that you've reported Miss Bishop here and in the Scripts Tower too! As you can only use it once, I'll take off the one here as it's only for page numbers and you can fill that up easily with whatever you read.
