this book was interesting and did make me think. i just couldnt get over statements like "i did not choose to choose what i chose" or the idea that it is only luck that has made anyone successful.
I suppose I am just an optimist and have always held myself responsible for every action regardles of my upbringing so I feel like saying there is zero free will is just taking the easy way out.
Although there is nothing really wrong with the book i just cant bring myself to give it more stars because i just disagree with the idea.

i really wanted to love this book but i found myself annoyed with the main character through most of the book. i liked that it was written through letters and enjoyed some of the other characters enough to give it 3 stars

he was a likable character but the crying all the time just annoyed me for most of the book and he was so very sensitive i just wanted him to stand up for himself... i wont spoil it if you havent read it but in the end was some of the reasoning behind the crying etc. it just wasnt for me i guess.
i did however love all the scenes with the rocky horror picture show, being a theater kid myself back in my high school days this brought back all kinds of memories for me

Hmmm... thanks (:
I will keep this in my mind when I read about him.

I enjoyed this book but it didn't really tug at my heartstrings or anything. liked it, didn't love it even though I wanted to. A big part of this is probably because I had the crud while reading it. I may give it another shot next year and see if I like it more

excellent book, i felt the end was a bit rushed. am hoping there is a second book to elaborate on the end

great book! this was my first look into any oriental culture. even though it was fiction it still peaked my interest. i will be reading more books by this author

Love her books!

This one was hard for me to get through, 30 or so pages at a time I finally finished. it will be a donation book for sure, hopefully someone out there will love it more then i did

this was my first book by David Sedaris and I was not disappointed. Loved the fact that I could pick it up and read a short story in a few mins in between playing with the little one. I will be reading more by him in the future.

Started out excellent, lost some of the momentum as the book went on but still a great read

This book has made me re-love this series after taking a short break from it.

The story was of course gripping but only because of the horrendous things Jaycee had to endure but I didn't love the way the book was really written.

I didn't love the beginning of this book, it was entertaining but just sounded a litte to young. Once I reminded myself it was a young adult book and kept going the book really improved.

This book was almost a 5 star read but I wasn't a huge fan of the lack of quotation marks and it did get a tad philisophical which I would normally like but because it would be in the middle of conversations it made it a little hard to follow. Overall a good book with a great storyline. I will be reading seeing for sure.

This one was almost 5 stars for me, maybe even 4.5 would be more accurate. I didn't have any true connection with the characters so I can't give it a 5 star rating but the book was well written, came from a different perspective then I was expecting and was semi-suprprising. Highly recommend it

eh. had a hard time getting into this book. it improved a bit by the end but I just wasn't fealing it

I liked this book more this time around then I did the last time I attempted it. The main downfalls for me were the lengthy narration and the fact that I just couldn't help but to compare it non stop to the movie. I would read a part I recognized from the movie then would want it to follow the movie in my mind and when it didn't I would get annoyed. Just one of the many reasons I never watch a movie before reading the book
