I have read this one. It's so good.

message 3: by Ben (new)

Ben | 13 comments Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 I really want more people to read these.....every time I see him in an interview he says he believes he is getting these books from God :) he just writes what comes out never knows how the book is going to end.

message 4: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Hey, Ben, is this in the Christian Fiction genre? It defintiely needs to be to be nominated for one of our group reads. I'm not familiar with the book or the author, so I just wanted to check.

Thanks!

message 5: by Ben (new)

Ben | 13 comments It's a young adult/sci fi novel sorry :( even if it can't be nominated it's definitely a book people should pick up :)

message 6: by Ben (new)

Ben | 13 comments I found a different book that is considered Christian fiction :) Forbidden (The Books of Mortals, #1) by Ted Dekker

Beth, how do you officially check to see if something is considered Christian Fiction genre? I do read other books and I'm afraid to talk about them sometimes on these threads just in case.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't read Ted Dekker yet. Don't know why it's taking so long. All of his books look really good.

Alina, one thing that works for me is checking on what publishing houses that publish Christian Fiction and under what publisher. For example, Bethany House is one of the big names in Christian Fiction, as well as Tyndale, Thomas Nelson, Revell, Barbour...there are some others as well. I don't know how "official" of a method that it is, but that is one way I'll check.

message 10: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Moody Publishers, Abingdon Press, Zondervan, Baker Publishing (which actually has two imprints, Revell & Bethany House), B&H Publishing, David C. Cook, NavPress, Harvest House...are a few more. There are others too, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

message 11: by Beth (last edited Jan 02, 2013 01:18PM) (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Oh and WaterBrook/Multnomah is a Christian publisher...it is actually the Christian fiction line of the big one, Random House.

Howard Books is a newer one to me, it's Simon and Schuster's line for Christian fiction

Zondervan comes from Harper Collins, I believe.

message 12: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Sorry, that was some serious information overload. I get carried away sometimes :)

Ben | 13 comments Beth wrote: "Sorry, that was some serious information overload. I get carried away sometimes :)"

Lol that was a lot of publishers :)

message 14: by CarolynB (new)

CarolynB (carolynlb) | 2 comments Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 is by Richard Paul Evans. For a while, when I read the title I thought the book was written by Michael Vey. I wonder if other people have made/are making this mistake.

Sounds intriguing Ben. We have read a book here by Richard Paul Evans, didn't we? The walk, I believe. I will definitely put this one on my TBR list :)

The books are published by Glenn Beck’s publishing company MercuryInk which is owned by Simon & Schuster :)

Yes! Miles to Go was it! That is cool that he can write different stories like that. I wouldn't have even made that connection between the two books.

That is a good one. I read it before, but could read it again.

message 35: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (blaircaldwell86) I think Unending Devotion looks good.

message 36: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Ladies, you don't actually have to "pick" one. We use a random picker to choose the winner. :)

message 37: by Kristi (new)

Kristi Hunter (kristiannhunter) | 9 comments After it was suggested in another thread, I really want to pick up Save the Date by Jenny B. Jones . Not sure if that's been done before since I just joined.

message 38: by Beth (last edited Jan 18, 2013 07:39AM) (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Kristi Ann, we actually did read this one as an optional group read in 2011.

message 39: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Beth wrote: "Ben wrote: "I found a different book that is considered Christian fiction :)Forbidden (The Books of Mortals, #1) by Ted Dekker"

Loved it! Can't wait to start the second in the series.

message 40: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Hi, everyone! The nominations are now closed, and the book has been picked by random.org. February's read will be...

Double Blind by Brandilyn Collins by Brandilyn Collins

message 41: by Jennipher (new)

Jennipher Ooohh! Sounds good!

message 42: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments I think so too! It's a little out of my reading "comfort zone," but I'm looking forward to it.

message 43: by Tara (new)

Tara | 2 comments I haven't read this author and am looking forward to it, although I really want to read Forbidden by Ted Dekker, he always tells a good story.

message 44: by Ben (new)

Ben | 13 comments Tara wrote: "I haven't read this author and am looking forward to it, although I really want to read Forbidden by Ted Dekker, he always tells a good story."

Lol you can still read it just not as a group read at this time :)

message 45: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Tara, you can always nominate Forbidden for March's group read. Or as Ben says, just read it whenever you'd like :) It's on my to-read list as well.

message 46: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments I thought we did Forbidden as an additional group read in 2011 though.

message 47: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Oh, Cheryl, you're right! We did. That's a little too soon for a repeat I'd say. I'm surprised none of us caught this when we got the nomination from Been. Woops! :)

Sorry, Tara, looks like Forbidden is out as a group read for now, but, have you could see if anyone would want to do a buddy-read for it!

message 48: by Julianna (new)

Julianna | 15 comments Tara I would love to do a buddy read haven't read yet either

message 49: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments Although, the beauty of the buddy reads is that a few of you could start your own read of Firbidden there! It's a great book!

message 50: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments Sorry I meant Forbidden!
