Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Quite fittingly the first book in this months group read! Woop! I'm thinking we can just take our time.

I like to really discuss my HP books and I want to really take my time on them.

Our goal is pretty much read the 7 Harry Potter books in 2013 - whether this is for the first time, second time or like me... embarrassingly amount of times to remember.

This thread will be to discuss certain topics including, but not only, characters, plots, specific lines/paragraphs and maybe even the odd comparative to the movie. (I plan to personally watch the movies right after reading the corresponding book).

I will be taking the Elle-Stick and pushing us forward but it's all very relaxed in this joint so no worries if you jump ahead or go behind. Have fun guys, it's a great book and we should enjoy reading them.

Since the first book is a group read I don't see this thread being used much until we move onto the second, but do keep us up to date if you do decide to go ahead.

FYI: I have exams until the 11th so I'll be starting it on the 12th. I'm hoping to do like a few chapters a day and highlight a lot of things on my Kindle so I'll have stuff to discuss.

TL;DR let's have funnnnnn and feed elle's obsesssionnnn

Karon | 41 comments I have been re-reading the HP books this year :) They are my bathtime reading as I have the dead tree format and don't read my Kobo in the bath.
I have read 1-3 and am now half way through The Goblet of fire.

message 11: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Ha! HP has become my bathtime read too Karon! I'm halfway through Prisoner of Azkaban. I read them when I am at home though and not only when I am in the bath

Andy Elliott | 1446 comments Are you going to include Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, now that they're apparently making a movie of this beastopaedia? If you don't mind I'll join you when you reach GoF; I read the first three books at the end of last year and the stack of books on my Kindle will get very annoyed if I re-read them again!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I'm onto Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix now and I'm totally addicted I can hardly concentrate in work for wanting to read Harry Potter.

message 17: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I'm on the last book!

message 18: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I love book 7, it's so satisfying. There is absolutely everything you could possibly want in that book (although I suppose the surprise goes once you've read it for the first time). The earlier books all lead up to it and link in to it so wonderfully that I think if I had to pick only one book to read for the rest of my life it would have to be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I love that one too Jud although is pretty heart wrenching in places!
I really should crack on with them too!

message 20: by Karon (new)

Karon | 41 comments I finished Goblet of Fire a week or so ago and after finishing my current book (20 pages to go) I shall be starting The Order of the Phoenix.

message 21: by Andy (new)

Andy Elliott | 1446 comments I struggles a bit with Order of the Phoenix which I found a bit plodding in places after the zippy plots of books one to four. Plus I really wanted to give Harry a slap for sulking so much. Teenagers huh? Onto Half Blood Prince at the mo which is my favourite at the moment (both of the books and films). Have to see if it maintains its position after this read through!

message 22: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I struggle with Harry in OotP too, he's a prat most of the time but he excels himself in book 5.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8584 comments I gave up the books half way through book 5. Some day I will read them I expect!
