Another good one with a Pacific Northwest twist is Wild Bill, The Legand and Life of William O. Douglas by Bruce Murphey. The bio written by Doughlas, Of Men and Mountains is also very good, however there is some speculation that Douglas,um,embellished quite a bit.

Grown ups into children's lit may enjoy Mary Poppins she wrote: the life of P.L. Travers by Lawson.
Awesome, thanks for all of the suggestions! Biographies I've read and enjoyed in the past year include "I Am Not Myself These Days" by Josh Kilmer-Purcell, "Dry" by Augusten Burroughs (anything by Augusten Burroughs, actually, but I really loved this book about his recovery from alcoholism and addiction), and "Everything I'm Cracked Up to Be: a Rock and Roll Fairytale" by Boston musician Jen Trynin.
