It's that time again. What would you like to read for March 2013? Please post your nominations in comments below. Feel free to suggest something that has been nominated before. Please use the "add book/author" link to post the name of the book, so others can more easily check it out.

We ask that you don't nominate something just published in the last few months. Newer books may not be available in all countries, or in all formats, or in libraries.

Nominations will be closed on January 25.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 368 comments "This action packed mythological fantasy cum science fiction" - uh, we usually read non-fiction.

Steve Van Slyke (steve_van_slyke) | 400 comments It did well in last month's poll so I'd like to resubmit The Story of Earth: The First 4.5 Billion Years, from Stardust to Living Planet

bup | 21 comments The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail - But Some Don't Nate Silver's book on statistics and their use and misuse. Kind of math, important for science.

message 6: by Kenny (new)

Kenny Chaffin (kennychaffin) Wow, some great offerings so far!

message 7: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catjackson) | 0 comments I'd love to read The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail - But Some Don't with this group. I have the feeling I'd need some help along the way.

message 9: by Martina (last edited Jan 18, 2013 01:15PM) (new)

Martina I'd like to second one of Aleks' nominations: The Holographic universe by Michael Talbot.
(Although there are a lot of interesting nominations already.)

message 10: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 8 comments I'll second Nature Wars: The Incredible Story of How Wildlife Comebacks Turned Backyards into Battlegrounds. Had a few of the problems mentioned in the book review myself!

message 11: by Ilyas (last edited Jan 19, 2013 05:46PM) (new)

Ilyas | 1 comments I would like to nominate A Universe from Nothing: Why There is Something Rather Than Nothing. I think that the book is worth exploring :)

message 12: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Theiss Smith (dakotaprof) I'd love to read The Signal and the Noise. Reviews sound great and I love Nate Silver's work.

message 13: by Angus (new)

Angus Mcfarlane | 73 comments I recently saw a recommendation for Cathedrals of Science: The Personalities and Rivalries That Made Modern Chemistry, and sounds like it could add to the difficult-to-find chemistry field.

Both Nature Wars: The Incredible Story of How Wildlife Comebacks Turned Backyards into Battlegrounds and The Particle at the End of the Universe: How the Hunt for the Higgs Boson Leads Us to the Edge of a New World were published in the U.S. in mid-November. Both sound fascinating but I don't know whether they are available in other countries yet, or in libraries. I recommend that we hold off on these for another couple months.

message 16: by Charise (new)

Charise | 54 comments We have not read much dealing with the subject of geology or the Earth but I thought Our Magnetic Earth: The Science of Geomagnetism looked interesting.

DeLene Beeland (tdelene) Betsy wrote: "Both Nature Wars: The Incredible Story of How Wildlife Comebacks Turned Backyards into Battlegrounds and The Particle at the End of the Universe: How the Hunt for the Higgs Boson Leads Us to the Ed..."

That does look like a very interesting book!

I'll second Ilyas' nomination, with the same reasoning. :)
