What to Read March 2013: Moderator Pick has been chosen

If anyone thinks they we missed a book that deserves further consideration, the open pick is still open for another day or two.
Never mind. Deborah has made a liar out of me. I thought those nominations were supposed to be open until the 8th? That is what the opening post said.

I get google alerts that tell me to open the poll. I never argue with the calendar. It's all I've got. I have zero short term memory.

Half a Life

His earlier book, A House For Mr. Biswas, was a true literary masterpiece. Half a Life was published in the year Naipaul won the Nobel Prize for literature. Reactions on this site seem very divided, which suggest a potential for lively discussion/debate. It's a relatively short book. It's the kind of book that gets discussed over a decade after publication (though it's still within the twenty first century), which could indicate "modern classic" status.
I'd post it in the other thread, but it's locked.

Please do nominate it next month.
