Half a Life by V.S. Naipaul

His earlier book, A House For Mr. Biswas, was a true literary masterpiece. Half a Life was published in the year Naipaul won the Nobel Prize for literature. Reactions on this site seem very divided, which suggest a potential for lively discussion/debate. It's a relatively short book. It's the kind of book that gets discussed over a decade after publication (though it's still within the twenty first century), which could indicate "modern classic" status.

I just tried to add Half a Life, and I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong, but I cannot find an edit option. People have already voted, so I felt that I could not remake the poll.

Please do nominate it next month.
