Edwin slid his bag into place under the bed. His roommate from last year, a year one, hadn't made it through to this year. He was pretty sure he'd be getting another year one for a roommate. Maybe this one would last longer than the last two had.

[XD I'm not sure, probably because they weren't good enough, or he threw them off their game by pestering them. He's also very good, which throws some year ones off. ;)]

Still half asleep, he clumsily removed the pillow case and tossed it into a corner that he dubbed "dirty pile."
Something moved in his periphery. He froze.
A roommate. Great...he had hoped to be alone, but oh well.
Without any other form of acknowledgement, Lucas flopped down onto his belly and laid his head back down.
How could this kid stand to be so messy? Edwin glared at the other boy's back. He was sure it was the same guy who had fallen on North. He sat up in bed and turned on the light. The sun was just peeking into the room, and he needed to get started.

[I'm going to be gone again all next week.]
Lucas shoved his head into the pillow. He raised his voice enough to be heard despite the fact that he was face down, but not quite enough to wake himself up. "Do you mind?"
(That's fine! And we'll miss you!)
Edwin rolled his eyes. Just what he needed, a lazy roommate who liked to sleep in. "Sorry." He turned out the light and felt his way over to his books. He created a floating flame to light his books and shielded it from the other guy.

Lucas was out almost immediately. Before he did, however, he heard the crackle of flame. It was too small to be coming from the firepit in the middle of the room...
He turned his head slightly and pried an eye open. A soft glow. Coming from the other guy. Unless it was a flashlight or something...
He jumped out of bed and "snuck" up behind his roommate. He peeked over the guy's shoulder.
"How do you do that?" Though he fought to keep his eagerness out of his voice, he didn't quite succeed.
[Haha, no worries, I do that all the time. ;)]
Edwin grinned. Finally, he had an advantage. "You'll learn it eventually," he said distractedly. He concentrated and made the flame dance, changing shape as it hovered.

Suddenly not tired at all, Lucas shifted in place. "So...what's your name?" He turned back to his side of the room. To change or not to change?
He glanced down at his clothes and decided that, since they were only a day old, they would be fine.
So all he needed was his bag. This he slung across his shoulders. The straps struck one another and made a bit of a clatter.
If only the younger boy would be quiet. Edwin wrinkled his nose in disgust and made the flame follow him as he turned on the light. Now that his roommate was awake, he didn't have to worry about bugging him. "Edwin. Yours?"

Oh, man, that flame was taunting him! So badly, he wanted to do that.
As he ran out the door, he said over his shoulder, "Well, bye."
He was going to be the first to class. Which, he assumed, would be in the training room.
His stomach growled when he was halfway across the lobby. Hmm, better eat first.
He ran to the kitchen and ran into other students already lined up for the morning meal.
[Or is it too early, or not like a camp set up?? If this is fine, I'll go ahead and post the last half of this in the Pyre Lounge. :)]
(Yes, that's fine! :) It's probably a little early for a lot of students to be there, probably mostly excited year ones and experienced year fours. The cafeteria area would probably be in the main house, actually. I can post a thread for that.)
