I requested this from my library, so I will be joining the group read when I read it!

Keri (mindcrusher1376) | 14 comments I'm about 7 chapters in. Interesting concept but so far the characters all seem a little childish and shallow. Needs more Vikings and less girl drama.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments Keri, I agree. Couldn't figure out if it wanted to be humorous or not, either. I also thought the plot was a bit lightweight, but in the end I gave it 4 stars. Would have gone w/ 3.5 ...

MadameZelda This is not sounding good for over $8.

Jennifer I'm into chapter 15. I enjoy the book, but I don't find the hero particularly dangerous (I mean in theory, of course he is) but his vibe is not dark. The plot is light-weight and I constantly feel like it was written with the mindset that someday it would be a tv show or movie. This is the first of her books I've read, and, I have to say, I won't be searching out more of her stuff. I don't hate it but I don't love it either.

Library, my dear!

Keri (mindcrusher1376) | 14 comments Okay, so I've finished the book and I'm still wondering who's the guy on the cover. There's no way he's Vig, the homeless sorta mental loner, complete with Viking beard. I agree with Jennifer; Vig never came across as a badass, but this book wasn't really about Vig anyway. Probably should have had Kera on the cover with Brodie and a bunch of girls sunbathing by the pool at the mansion.

I liked the concept of the different clans fighting for the gods, the second chance at life for the Crows and the visit to Asgard. This also looks like the story will continue into the next book and I'm interested to see what comes next.

I didn't like that the author waited until chapter 27 to have Kera visit the seer and finally explain the purpose of the Crows. It would have been a more exciting read if Kera was hip to the program and more energy was focused on the fighting and..... another f-word.

My curiosity has been piqued enough to keep reading the series but would not say this fit the "dark hero" bill. Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments Keri, I think you're right-moving the seer scene up would have helped because that was pretty key, as was the Crows/Asgard stuff. I don't know yet if I'll follow up on the next book...I prefer a higher intensity. And no, that wasn't any guy in THIS book!

I started it. I like it so far, plenty of action. I haven't met the hero yet though.

Jennifer I think everyone's comments are right on the mark. I finished it a few days ago. I agree that the "hero" never really fit the "dark" mold I'm generally looking for, but I liked him and liked most of the characters. I'm not really interested in the rest of the series, though and will look for something else.

I would say that Vig is dangerous enough. He's just played in a lighthearted way. Everyone in this book is crazy, so it's hard for him to stand out as particularly dark.

I finished this today. I liked it quite a bit. I think that this is more about the heroine than the hero. That's okay because it's nice to have a strong heroine focused story. I really enjoyed the theme about found family and bonding between people who are united but come from different background. I found this wonderfully multicultural, which can definitely be an issue with many romances that are popular.

I'd give it four stars.

To those who read it, what was your favorite aspect of the book?

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments The segment in Hel (?) where she learned to fight and to love ... her "sisters". A very creative slant.

I loved the woman-bonding aspects of this story.
