Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments FYI edited to include castle in the title or series name.

message 3: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kaylaschwae) | 491 comments hey jenne I'm just curious does this include sand castles?

message 4: by Holli (new)

Holli | 333 comments I have a question on the word being in the author's name. Does it have to be the name itself? Or can it be the letters are in the first and/or last name?

message 5: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t Is any other word acceptable for castle? Like Palace or Keep

message 6: by Susan A (new)

Susan A | 2047 comments Well...I learned a new word today.

forecastle: the forward part of a ship below the deck, traditionally used as the crew's living quarters.

Is embedded okay?

I believe sandcastle is one word too, although maybe sand castle is an accepted version.

message 7: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Sandcastle and forecastle won't work. It needs to be in reference to a genuine castle. Now I'll take palace since it's the same thing and keep only if it means a "keep" keep me close wouldn't work.

It would need to be the author's name like Castle Freeman Jr..

That's what I thought. Thanks for the clarification.

message 10: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t Thanks on the palace/keep thing

message 11: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Would tower or turret be acceptable?

message 12: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments In text or title no. If it's a partial view of a castle on the cover just showing the tower or turret and it's obviously a castle then yes.

Nichole | 1862 comments Just to clarify...

⚔Any book with the word castle in the text qualifies

Does it matter if there is an actual castle in the story? Or just that the word Castle is in the text?

Ex: "Little Jane thought she would marry Mark-Paul Gosselaar from Saved by the Bell in an English castle."

"Are we going to let White Castle do the catering?"

"A castle made of air and foolish wishes"

message 14: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Those would all be ok except White Castle since it's obviously in reference to the burger place :)

message 15: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1862 comments Ok, thanks.

message 16: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 5307 comments Jenny would "Thousand Castles Winery" count?

message 17: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) What about a birthday cake shaped like a castle?

message 18: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments V that falls into a brand name kind of like White Castle.

Sam is it on the cover or in the text?

message 19: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) In the text.

message 20: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Sam that'll work.

message 21: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Yay! Thanks :)

message 22: by ☶️✨ (new)

☶️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 153 comments OK, audiobook fans, how should I cite castle in the text if I'm listening to the audiobook? Or can I?

message 23: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Berit Amazon has the look inside feature for most books. Be sure you're on the paperback/hardback edition, search the word and it'll give you the quote and page #.

☶️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 153 comments Thanks!

message 25: by Susan A (last edited Jul 04, 2015 09:25AM) (new)

Susan A | 2047 comments "Life was nothing like those fairy tales he read as a kid. Life wasn’t even like Ice Castles.

Does that count? I think it is a movie reference. There is also another sentence which refers to the movie poster

"Across from his bed, in the place of honor on the wall opposite, was the tattered Ice Castles poster, old when he’d gotten it off eBay at the age of ten."

message 26: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Hmm that's a hard one. I can't really tell if it's a brand of something or an ice castle lol. Lemme see what my fellow mods think.

message 27: by Susan A (new)

Susan A | 2047 comments does this work?

He wasn’t sure what he’d expected—some oriental palace of decadence.

message 28: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Susan the ice castle one sounds an awful lot like the movie (which I didn't know was a movie until today lol) so I'm gonna say no to that one.
The oriental palace one is just fine :)

message 29: by Susan A (new)

Susan A | 2047 comments Thanks Jenne

message 30: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I am getting ready to read a book I should be able to finish before midnight EST. I just wanted to make if I finished in between midnight - 1am EST (11-midnight CST) can count it towards this mini challenge?

message 31: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yep :)
