Eidos is owned by Square Enix, hence the association with the new project.
I read this a few days ago, while I was doing some news coverage for a local gaming site: "".
Fingers-crossed, it'll happen...

Ah, thanks Phil on the company clarification. Turns out that since 2004 (keep that date in mind) Edios started looking to be merged. It wasn't until 2009, that Square Enix stepped in (this accoring to ).
The sixth installment was due out ~2004 and was cancelled; . That timing appears to coincide with Eidos' financial woes.
I am a complete Legacy of Kain junky. I have been cross my fingers for a decade...cripes...

I'd love to see this series brought back. I adored LoK: Blood Omen and both Soul Reavers (Defiance was good, B.O. 2 was the only one I thought was sort of bland and generic); there was so much yet to do with the world! I hope Square Enix does well by the series.
Good news is, that Square Enix is also developing , another "classic" title (which could be considered S&S) from the '90s...
I saw that. I'm interested for that as well! I'm currently reliving the first three games on the Let's Play Archive
Thanks for sharing that, wasn't aware of a site dedicated to that. LPs is a nice way of going through the games without losing (reading?) time or days... :)
Neoseeker posted news on "War for Nosgoth":
Source:
"Square Enix has released a statement after rumors spread pertaining to a War for Nosgoth listing in Steam's database. Yes, War for Nosgoth is in development and yes, it is related to the Legacy of Kain universe. However, it is neither a traditional Legacy of Kain experience nor is it a single player game."

That link is awesome; I was reading that the other day. It cracks me up how dedicated, and skilled, fans are. I believe the author is the same that runs . It is amazing to see how material from cancelled games gets recycled... and that people can find and analyze cancelled-game-material to begin with.
Whether "War for Nosgoth" is single player or multiplayer doesn't matter to me; I will be trying that game out.

The game has been revealed in beta-form:
Nosgoth will be available on Steam on PC.
"Nosgoth is a competitive, team-based Human versus Vampire free-to-play multiplayer experience set in the brutal fantasy world of the Legacy of Kain series.
...Nosgoth is set on its own distinct era of the Legacy of Kain timeline and knowledge of prior events, while empowering, is by no means necessary. All you need to know is that the two factions involved Humans and Vampires are locked in a bloody struggle to control the land of Nosgoth, a land they both share and call home."

I'm not intrigued by the on-line only, multi-player mode, but the setting of Nosgoth is enough to convince me for a trial...

Originally started by Crystal Dynamic's ... The series evolved under EIDOS. Square Enix somehow got associated with rights. Blood Omen predates God of War... But compares in epic bloody action.
