Freya (flamecat) I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any novels that have Pied Piper-like stories in them? For example I think Cecilia Dart-Thornton's Bitterbynde trilogy mentions the folk-tale as a part of the story.

The reason I'm wondering if I've written this is in the right place is that after reading any novels which have a pied piper feel to them, I'll probably want to move on to other particular creatures such as selkies or brownies.

Manybooks | 65 comments There are novels (I have not read any of them) that have a Pied Piper like character in them, or use the theme of the Pied Piper. I found the following books doing an Amazon search, but as I have not read any of them, I will simply list the titles.

After Hamelin by Bill Richardson

The Rats of Hamelin: A Piper's Tale by Keith McCune

Pay the Piper by Jane Yolen

Wild Magic by Cat Weatherill

The Children of Hamelin by Danny Lasko

Shadow of the Piper by L P Hoffman

Grimm Fairy Tales: The Piper by Mike Kalvoda

The Pied Piper by Ridley Pearson

Pied Piper by Nevil Shute

The Pied Piper's Poison by Christopher Wallace

The Irish Piper by Jim Latimer

The Troll Bridge by Jane Yolen

The Piper's Sons by Bruce Fergusson

The Pied Piper of Sweden by Tom Steele

Crusade in Jeans by Thea Beckman (this historical novel is about a young boy who goes back in time to the so-called Children's Crusade, and some people consider the story of the Pied Piper to be related to this event, and in the book, Nicholas does seem a bit like a Pied Piper figure, amongst others, who lead unsuspecting children away to what ends up being slavery or almost ends up being slavery instead of a crusade).

Manybooks | 65 comments I'm also curious about the following novel, The Pied Piper by Robert Collinson. It looks to be a historical novel about the Jacobite uprising, so I guess I am curious at the title and wether the author portrays Bonnie Prince Charlie as some sort of Pied Piper figure (he certainly had charisma and the Scottish clans followed him to their doom at Culloden).

Serena | 7 comments The Book of Andre Norton has the short story "London Bridge " which takes place in the future where the city of London is behind force wall from which the surviving children can not escape until a Pied Piper like being starts taking them.

Moon Mirror has the short story "Outside " which is alike "London Bridges ".
