2. Lolita by Vladmir Nabokov (satisfies 1 of 4 classics read)
3. Oh No She Didn't by Clinton Kelly
4. Straight Talk, No Chaser by Steve Harvey (satisfies 1 of 3 black authors)
5. For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway (satisfies 2 of 4 classics read)

This was required reading, but that's ok because it's on my Rory Gilmore list too.

How was Stardust? I really like the movie, but have not had a chance to pick up the book yet.

Did you like this one? I started reading it and then put it aside because I wasn't in the right reading zone for it at the time. I'd be curious to find out if it was worth picking up again at some point.

It was pretty good. Neil Gaiman is wonderful at imagery and story. His characters were so much fun! My only hang up is that I didn't know that it was a fairytale for adults. It reads like a fairytale for children, but it's got a couple of adult scenes, and that threw me off a little. But the story is fun.

I actually didn't really care for this one. It took me about half of the book to actually get into it. It's dark and a little gross. A lot of nothing happens. I think it is worth the read, but not if you're wanting something happy and light. There is no happy, really. I would suggest reading this one along with the audio book. Frank McCourt narrates it (and is fabulous!), and it makes the reading a little less tedious until it picks up.

Hi Arielle and Tima,
I read Angela's Ashes and enjoyed it, but it is a little bit depressing at times. I find McCourt has a charming way of putting things and there is humour in a lot of his writing. I also read Tis, but didn't enjoy it as much. I would try it again if I were you. I guess it's like all book, just depends on your frame of mind at the time.

I agree about his charming voice. It is. He seems so good natured!
I really liked 'Tis. I've actually been advising people to just skip Angela's Ashes, and jump straight to 'Tis, however, Angela's Ashes held my attention enough to make me curious enough to read 'Tis. That's a testament to Angela's Ashes and Frank McCourt. I probably will give Angela's Ashes another try many years from now.
I'm glad you liked it, though :)

Review coming soon :)

i just loved this book. the movie is fun, but added a lot of action and removed quite a few characters, so the book is quite different; gentler and with more depth.

I really enjoyed it too! I think the movie did it justice as well, but I couldn't put the book down.
