Hi all,

What do you want to read in March? Let me know and I'll put them in a poll soon.

A couple recent titles that may be of interest: Basti by Intizar Husain; The Gate by Natsume Sōseki; Going to the Dogs: The Story of a Moralist by Erich Kästner; The Stammering Century by Gilbert Seldes; Testing the Current by William McPherson; Diary of a Man in Despair by Friedrich Reck-Malleczewen; or either Speedboat or Pitch Dark by Renata Adler.

Or we can go farther back and do any of our books.

Nick

Seana | 432 comments I'm game for anything, as usual, but having read Pitch Dark some years ago, I'm particularly interested in Speedboat. I also came across a book I'd forgotten I had yesterday, which is Tove Jansson's The True Deceiver. Not sure if we're ready to do repeat authors yet, but I know we did tend to like reading The Summer Book awhile ago.

Just realized we might have a problem with the Adler books, they don't go on-sale till the March 19th.

Guy | 144 comments I've read The Gate, Diary of a Man in Despair (fantastic, btw),& Going to the Dogs. Just started The Unknown Masterpiece which is part of my ongoing Balzac project.

Any others? I'm going to set up a poll pretty soon. And I agree Guy, Diary of a Man in Despair is excellent.

Alta | 1 comments I just bought The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim, so I'd like to read that, but it was published in 2007, so if you want to choose recent books it may not work. Of the titles you proposed, The Gate by Soseki sounds the most appealing. Oh, I just finished The Singapore Grip by Farrell (a masterpiece!).
