DHASG April Reading Challenge

Introduction: April is the fourth month of the year. Spring is here to stay (or so we hope) for three months. Let’s celebrate the month of April and reading on the DHASG with this challenge.

Instructions:

1. Books must be read between April 1st and April 30th of the month.
2. Please post on this thread that you are signing up and update your stats as you finish. Let the moderator know when you are completed in your final post.
3. A book can only be used once in the challenge.
4. Books of any genre can be used for the challenge, unless a particular part of the challenge states otherwise.
5. Let’s have fun this month!

Levels
1. Spring in My Step: Read 8 books
2. In Full Bloom: Read 5-7 books
3. I’m no April Fool: Read 3-4 books

1. Tax Freedom Day! April 16th is the day that the tax nightmare is over (hopefully) for another year. Any book you want to read this month will count toward this challenge just as a pat on the back.
2. Earth Day—April 22nd is the day we celebrate Planet Earth and refocus our conservation and ecologically friendly efforts. Read a book that reminds you of nature in its pristine state and doing our part to keep the earth clean and healthy for all its inhabitants.
3. Diamonds are Forever—The diamond is the birthstone for April. Diamonds are known for their physical hardness and their beauty. They can be utilitarian and decorative. Read a book with a character who is both tough as a diamond, but also beautiful and desirable to you as a reader.
4. Daisy Jane—The Daisy is the birth flower of April. Its scientific name is Bellis perennis, which means pretty and everlasting in Latin. Daisies are known for their ubiquitous and hardy natures. Read a book with a heroine who is a girl next door type or plain Jane, because we know these girls have hidden depths that can make a hero fall head over heels.
5. Number Four—Since April is the fourth month of the year, you can read a book that has four words in its title or has one word with four letters as its title. If you can find a book with a character named April, you can count it here.
6. April Showers Mean May Flowers—Since April is known for rainy days, any book that makes you cry that you read this month counts here. ‘Cause we all need a good cry every now and then.
7. Flower Power-Unless you’re in one of the areas that are still getting snow, the flowers are blooming around us right now. Read a book that makes you think of newly growing flowers/blooms of any type, be it the book cover, a character’s name, a mention of flowers in the book.
8. So Long, Sweetie!—The other birth flower of April is the Sweet Pea. Sweet Peas symbolize pleasure, goodbyes, departures, and thank yous. Read the last book in a series you’ve been following or the last book in your collection or the latest book currently in publication by an author.

Cherrie (self-describedkindleaddict) | 114 comments I'm excited to start this challenge tomorrow. I have been struggling to get through a rather boring series of short books :-(. I'm really going to try hard to finish the series, but I can't wait to get my hands on one of the great books on my list.
