Page Numbers, Just About Page Numbers...

Do you have an eBook or audiobook you are reading for the Tower Teams Reading Challenge that needs a page number? Do you see a discrepancy? Or need a conversion? Or some other question about pages?

Post it here.

Acceptable Resources:

More on GRs List
Probably Amazon...within the next three months.

Of course, if you find an eBook publisher who gives you word count, we will use that; however, we can NOT update GRs datafiles without a legitimate source.

Nevertheless, for the purposes of this challenge we will divide the wordcount by 250 per page.

Ashley Marie, I'll take Smashwords as an acceptable "unofficial" source.

Smashwords has Anomaly (The Birthright Series, #1) by JC Emery listed at 77,272 words = 309 pages.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Steven, while Amazon only has the file size at 287 KB, Smashwords has Sleepwalkers by Ross Ellis at 45,500 words = 182 pages. I'll take it as acceptable.

Thanks :)*waves*

Love in the Irish Mist by Rebecca Ratliff

Hmmm... very interesting, Claire. It was a free book that is no longer on Amazon/Kindle, even for money. However, I did find it on MOBI Reader with 382 KB = 191 pages.

I'll approve it for this challenge; however, since MOBI is NOT an approved reference for GRs datebase, I will NOT update it on the book's profile page. Just refer anyone who questions it to this post.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I read this and just noticed that it doesn't show a page count: Amazon has it as 224 pages. My print copy is really only 209 if you exclude the book excerpt at the end. Island Heat by Suzanne Forster

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments I changed it to 224 pages, Mary, since that is what Amazon quotes. Island Heat by Suzanne Forster

á I read The Prince of Mist (Niebla, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón and my edition has over 200 pages. I saw one edition here on goodreads is 130+ long

I read this book for Black team (Leather Jacket) challenge and it seems I can´t count it because of this edition that is 130+ pages long. is it because of it or is it something else?

all editions, except this one, are 200+
It is a lost case? am I missing something?

message 17: by Steven (last edited Apr 23, 2013 05:33AM) (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5186 comments Lara, looking over your bookshelves, it appears that The Prince of Mist is not marked as read on your Manatee bookshelf. Not sure how that happened since you clearly marked one version of it on your normal Read bookshelf.

Your best bet is to find it on your Manatee shelf, mark that one and do your rating/review there, and then go back and remove the other one. (Or of course you could just add the one you rated onto your manatee shelf).

message 18: by á (new)

á Já, Steven, that´s it! Thank you. (:
I didn´t realize I had two different editions on two different shelves. silly me

message 19: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5186 comments I had a similar situation recently. It took some digging into my shelves to figure it out. I thought since that might be it I'd try to help.

Glad we figured it out... even if that bumps up your team's numbers... *sigh* :)

message 20: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5186 comments Oo, I do know that for Round II, the FINISHED date has to be within the challenge guidelines for it to count, so on that note it should be fine.

I would assume with that many pages it's fine too. :) But Lisa Kay is in charge of page count questions!

message 21: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Oh, now I know I can sleep in and Steven will take care of this thread. LOL! Thanks, Steven!

message 22: by Lisa Kay (last edited Apr 23, 2013 08:53AM) (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments ❀Oo❀, yes, Steven is correct. Even if you read 1,000 pages of a book before April 12th and finished 1 page of it on or after - and FINISHED it - that book would count towards Round II.

message 23: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5186 comments Haha, you're welcome. Hopefully I'm not overstepping my bounds. I just remembered asking that question early on in the challenge myself!

message 25: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Hello Lisa Kay,

I finished reading Arabian Pearl by Emma Wildes yesterday for another challenge. Amazon says the length is 264 pages, but this morning I looked at the ebook version because I like to double check page numbers and it says its 148 pages, which means I can't count it for this challenge. So upon further digging, the books is 585 KB, which can make it count, but its a novella with 25,000 words which will make it fall below the 160 page count. So I want to say no it cannot count. I just need some confirmation on it.

message 26: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Man-oh-man, Hina! That one must have a lot of picture ads. I've found two sources that confirm the word count is 25,000. Sorry, divided by 250 = 100 pages. You are correct; it won't count.

OKay that's what I got too...I just wanted to make sure I don't count it or discount it if it actually qualified. Thanks for clearing it up.

message 28: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1699 comments Hi LK - just wanted to confirm on both these books. I couldn't find word count in smashwords.

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making (Fairyland, #1) by Catherynne M. Valente - Children's book with cute drawings beginning of each chapter. I have the hardcover version and I can confirm it as 247 pages but I don't know if that's acceptable for this challenge.

The Marriage Bargain (Marriage to a Billionaire, #1) by Jennifer Probst - GR's ebook version says 160 pages (a little uneasy) but paperback is 300+ pages. I have the ebook version and I can't seem to find the word count.

Thanks for your help, Lisa Kay!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Hi, Vi!

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making (Fairyland, #1) by Catherynne M. Valente Word Count: 69,559 = 278 pages - more than listed! Still, I would go with what is listed for the HC, though you could argue the case.

The Marriage Bargain (Marriage to a Billionaire, #1) by Jennifer Probst - since I borrowed & read the PB of this from my library, I know it is 308 pages

✿C✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Hi! I've got a story that appears to have been published as five shorts of about 100 pages each. And it also appears to have been published as a 'volumes 1-4' book. If I read all 5, could I count them as one book? Or will none of them count?

The Island Part 1 is the first one.

message 36: by Lisa Kay (last edited Apr 26, 2013 03:49PM) (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments I just ran into this issue, myself, in Round I, Claire. You can NOT count it, if you post it as separate stories; however if you post it as The Island (Fallen Earth) (1-4), it would count. ...as one.

Strangers on a Bus by Robb Logger = I’ll go with Amazon/Kindle = 161 pages

Dreaming of You by Jennifer McNare = I’ll go with Amazon/Kindle = 277 pages

Waking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly = is free on Amazon & Harlequin. So, I downloaded it and it shows actual page numbers = 275 pages. I edited conflicting data base entries.

Blood Domination (Blood Destiny, #4) by Connie Suttle = I’ll go with Amazon/Kindle = 214 pages

November Surprise by Laurel Osterkamp = Again, I’ll go with Amazon/Kindle = 179 pages

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Lisa Kay - I have a quick question about page numbers and audiobooks. During the course of the RaT, I am going to be in the car a lot (one commute one way will be 4+ hours). I plan on listening to: Peony in Love by Lisa See and Fast Women by Jennifer Crusie . What needs to be done in order to have these show up as pages in my "stats"?

Should I mark the hardcover as read or can the page numbers be added to audiobooks?

Thank you!

message 45: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5186 comments Oh, Rebecca... 4+ hours ONE way in a commute? I would die!!!

message 46: by Rebecca NJ (last edited Apr 29, 2013 08:31AM) (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Steven - it's for a training that's all away across the state and then some. Luckily I don't mind audiobooks.

Usually I spend at least 2 hours a week for 2 days for one of my consulting jobs. Other than that, a 15 minute ride to the train station and 30 minutes on the train (again, 1 way) but at least I can "read!" I do the 4+ hour communte at least 3 times a year.

Oops - fuzzy math... I spend at least 4 hours a week (2 hours, 2 days a week) commuting.

message 47: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments I just put in the page numbers, Rebecca. I also added the hours/minutes.

Fast Women by Jennifer Crusie = 304

Ah, I could deal with the train commute. I would love that actually, to get in reading time. But I do NOT like driving at ALL.

Thus, I purchased my new home approximately 5 minutes away from my job. X)
