Well, that is the recommendation...And I need to delete all of the old comments before I make it public :)

Pity that they don't put that imagination of theirs toward writing good stories.

Oh well.
Truth is, we've suspected this for a while. Bottom line is that in a big city like Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ it's always going to be hard to keep a few cockroaches out of the kitchen. I suspect their posting of it now, though - on the eve of us going public - isn't a coincidence. When one plays childish games, one often can't help sticking their tongue out and going "Ynah!"
Personally, I plan to lose zero sleep over this. I would hope you would too. It happened and the sun still came up today, like it will do tomorrow and the next day.
Changing gears, I'd like to address the 'super sleuth' amongst us. Fist off, I want to say thank you for two reasons. 1) This AVI is one of my better photos and I appreciate you using it. If I'm going to show up somewhere unannounced, I'd prefer to be be looking my best. 2) Secondly, thanks for using one of my posts in which I refer to you as assholes. If you're going to quote me, I very much appreciate you getting it right.
As for the rest, all I'll say is that I recently released a new book and have started two more. If you read our "Feel free to squeeee" thread, you'll see many of our membership have done the same. Why is this important? Because it shows that you've already lost whatever sad mind games you're trying to play. While you're off humming the theme to Mission Impossible and cackling as you post your 'scoops', we're furthering our careers. We're improving our craft, building our readerships (that's this thing that happens when you try to put out good work and then don't subsequently treat your customers like shit...just in case you were confused), and having a lot of fun doing so.
And here's the thing...we're going to keep doing so and we're going to do it legitimately through hard work and dedication. You can't stop that.
So enjoy your victory (insert polite golf clap) for what it is: hollow.

Oh well, same rules apply. If you're here to talk reading or writing, we welcome you.
I'd just like to say that I have just discovered the glorious trashiness that is the bodice-ripper genre and OH MY GOD. They are awesome.
Unfortunately, I had to bring the ones I bought to my bookclub and they all laughed at me because it was a sci-fi bookclub and yeah. Awkward. (:

Goodbye, Nenia. See you in 3 years when you've read through them all. Oh wait, knowing how fast you read, make that more like 3 months. ;)

I'm reading Gone with the Wind right now, and it is pretty good so far although 1,000 pages is a little daunting - even for me. :P
I actually gave up Netgalley! The deadlines were stressing me out. I feel bad about the books I'm not reviewing but I think it's better to not review them than to review them without taking the time to really appreciate them. ETA: This being my personal stance.

Sometimes the personal attack ones can be a little hurtful, but it helps to just think of them as Youtube comments or something. Just stay out of it and let them think whatever they want. It's their right.
I'm getting better at that, I think. Also, I've stopped looking at my shelves. (:

I am amused by the way I am shelved...except when I was shelved as "bitch" that one bothered me and I reported it to Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. They agreed that it was inappropriate and removed it. :)
In general I try to stay off of my books pages. It is awesome to read the good but the bad can be pretty ugly.

"Bitch" is totally inappropriate and I do not blame you for doing that. It is the reason I changed my "excuse-me-but-wtf-r-u-doin" shelf to "this-cup-of-tea-is-not-for-me." That way, it's more about MY personal preferences as a reader and less about the author as a person. (:
I agree that the nice ones can be super awesome. I tend to screen my reviews by the positive ratings so I don't have to look at the negative reviews, although once in a while I do just to see if there are any common threads of criticism that are making people unhappy. If it's something I can work on, I make note of it.

Why 2 out of 10 bother me, I don't know, but I need a bucket of icecream.

Aww. But 80% who read it did like it! That's pretty great! Think of all those books on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ that have 2.5 or even 1.8 rating averages. You rock!

I don't want much, I just want to be loved by everyone.

Hehe! Isn't that what makes writers stand out from the crowd? We want everyone to love all of our work but it takes work (and sometimes therapy in extreme cases) for us to figure out that that's not gonna happen.

I think she got 1 star reviews for her unethical way of getting sales. She sold her soul to the mysterious god of the 1% that only shows himself to good writers. Though I hear he lost his ability to read in the past couple of years and is now showing up to random people.

Oh my gosh, I know that feel bro. It breaks my heart when people block me because I'm like, "Wait, you don't want to talk about this? But I thought we were all friends here!"
But then, you know, if they really find me and my books so repulsive I guess we wouldn't have much to talk about anyway so maybe it's for the best. (:
That's how I try to think about it anyway!

Look, if I wanted to be told I was going to burn in the Lake of Fire, I'd just call my Mom, ok? Though, the "pen of Satan" was a nice touch. Can I borrow that for my autobiography?
Love,
Krista

Heh, I'm already getting that from my mother and all I did was announce the title of the next good (Goddamned Freaky Monsters) :)
Agreed on that pen of satan remark. That would make a nice title.

This is the full email:
>>This book was written with the pen of SATAN and I will PRAY for your SOUL so that GOD in HIS grace will forgive you before the day of JUDGEMENT when you will go to HELL and BURN for eternity.<<

>>This book was written with the pen..."
So does that mean God will forgive you and then send you to burn in hell? Man's that's kind of harsh. :)

Isn't there a biblical saying about that? What is it, now, let me see....Oh yes.
"Judge not, lest ye be judged."

First (Wrong) Impressions. It's a modern re-telling of Pride and Prejudice, set in Edmonton's inner city. A lot of people pick up Austen-related books looking for "clean" romance. The problem is that I've studied Austen and her books are well beyond romance. So I adapted her social commentary into a modern social commentary. It's upset a lot of people.
It also doesn't help that I was an inner city worker for 3 years, so the book is (very) loosely based on my work. The language is quite harsh in the book in places and the topics are not fluffy. So it was a shock to some people. (though, really, the blurb says it's based in the inner city. Did they think homeless people are all polite? lol )
Plus, there are gay people in my book. It's really upsetting some.
So I knew I'd get bad reviews. That's cool. But emails? Wow. Nice. :D

Thanks, Nenia!

Can there be more than one of us? If so, I'm happy to share the love.

This wasn't in the hate mail, but a 1* review said it was a part of my liberal agenda :D I've always wanted a liberal agenda.
