Kristi (kristicoleman) Thoughts and feelings on this section?

Too cute!!

Zulfiya (ztrotter) Has Ushikawa endeared himself to you? Usually, with the shift of the narrator, authors try to give us more insight into the world of his fringe or other narrators. This trick did not work for me - Ushikawa is as off-putting and disagreeable as he used to be.

Deana (ablotial) Yeah, he's still pretty off-putting and disagreeable... but I think it's more clear that he's just doing his job. And he seems to be pretty good at his job, overall. He's doing a great job of uncovering connections, and of convincing people that his bogus award is legit.

I agree - he is a true professional, but still I find him disquieting ..

Jolina I'm reading this book now, and remember seeing it as a past group read here. I wanted to check the comments to see if I am alone in my reaction to this part.

I must say, the new perspective is about as interesting as the character is likable. What a waste! This seems like a cheap way to introduce more suspense into the storyline and draw out its conclusion.

It seems far-fetched that Ushikawa is just "sniffing out" so many connections. And considering that we already know the story that he is sniffing up...... how could this possibly be interesting to a reader!?

I'm hoping the rest of the story makes up for it.
