Which LIST book did you just start?
I've been reading some non-list 19th Century stuff. So I'm nudging myself (sort of) into the 20th Century and will pick up Her Privates We next.
I'm working on The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides. Everyone that's read my copy from my library has not liked it and called it depressing. But I'm really liking it so far.
Mother's Milk (along with the other Patrick Melrose novels) by St. Aubyn. pretty good stuff.....

I'm really enjoying this one. Already half-way finished and finding it hard to put down.
Started Malone Meurt (Malone Dies) by Samuel Beckett yesterday. Don't think this will take me as long to read as Molloy

I'm starting the Art of Fielding. Interested to see if I like it since it seems the consensus is if you're not a baseball fan it's boring and I know nothing about baseball.

quickly tossed off A Modest Proposal...now starting at the bottom of the list with Metamorphoses by Ovid (having already finished Aesop's Fables).
Currently reading The Remains of the Day which is coming along fine - not much in the way of action, but I do like the narration and it reminds me a lot of Downtown Abbey :). I'm also about halfway through Walden on audio, but I honestly don't know if I will finish it because it is so boring.
Reading "If on a winter's night a traveler" by Italo Calvino. Experiencing dyslexia and thinking that the writer has a sinister and sadistic attitude towards the reader so far (and a fascination with female readers at that). Can't wait for it to e.n.d.
Slowly making my way through House of Leaves. Overall, I like it. It's very much a love/hate relationship, though. After reading a while, I start to hate it and have to put it down. It's all those footnotes.

But one time I started it A-GAIN, and for some reason it worked for me, and then I really enjoyed it. I think if you like other stuff from that period/genre, you should keep trying, and one day it might click. [Or of course, maybe not....]
Now that I've gotten London Fields out of my life, I'm going back and RE-starting The Crow Road. (I was about halfway through it.) It's much better by itself, and I'm flying back through this re-read section, even though I'm trying purposefully to carefully digest.
Started Forever A Stranger and other stories by Haase, not what I was expecting, and once again my little library in Derbyshire has got a book from the USA for me.
Starting an off-list title on audio.I will be starting Finnegan's Wake in 5 days.
The Literary Disco group [associated with podcast of the same name] is starting a group read on Aug 1. (5 pages per day). This book is reputed to be so different, I think I might not do well w/o a group, so I'm happy for the opportunity to read along with them, and thx to my sis for bringing it up to me. If anyone's interested, see the thread on the LD group. They recommend the Viking and Penguin editions as having the same page alignments.

We have a fairly decent library in spite of the fact that I live in a small, remote town of 10k. But for a tiny fee ($2), they will find a book that is shelved at any library in the US or Canada. Pretty nifty!
Getting ready to sit down & start The Prince again. DESPITE this being a THIN volume, it's not "light reading", by any stretch. Also going to intersperse that one with The Good Earth
About to start Phineas Finn, the second in the Palliser series. Having finished the first in the series earlier this month, I'm looking forward to it.
Finnegan's Wake starts tomorrow. Should be.... interesting.I'm desperately concerned about not getting diverted from finishing The Crow Road, where I'm about 2/3 the way through.
No contest for me Stephanie, loved The Crow Road and hated Finnegan's wake.
