Mia R I'm going to watch the movie later. I was wondering what people thought about the movie and the book.

David Honestly. I thought this was a good example of where the movie is actually better than the book.

Kimbie I agree the movie was better. I am so ready for hit girl again.

I disagree, you're all wrong. In the film he's all handsome and he gets the girl. In the book he's a geek and the girl sends him a picture of herself sucking someone else's dick.

Cameronschuneman The book is hard to feel the action, but not the movie!
That makes the movie better.

Kyle The movie is a fairly accurate telling of the graphic novel. In many ways the action and feel of the movie is more powerful than the graphic novel.

That said, the characters in the comic are far more bad-ass. Hit Girl seems younger, and there seems to be a greater conflict between her being a bad ass and her being a cute little kid. In the movie she is just a bad ass. Kick-Ass seems younger as well in the graphic-novel, he seems more pathetic and he doesn't get the girl. all of these things make it far more impressive that he can become Kick-Ass.

David said, "Honestly. I thought this was a good example of where the movie is actually better than the book."

And I'm not sure I agree or disagree entirely but I think we are looking at a very different medium. Graphic novels are not the same thing as books. Kick-ass was about an hour read for me, very easy to adapt to a movie, most books that are adapted to movies are 100s of pages and far ore difficult to do justice too.

Anyway, all-in-all I'd say that you should experience both, they are essentially the same story, but they have very different feels.

Adam Boržík The movie is way better...at least the movie doesn't make you feel like you wanna throw up .

I agree. I know both book and movie were supposed to be over-the-top, but the movie did a much better job of entertaining you. The book had so many gross moments. (I'm talking about KA1).

Anyway, I feel so strongly about this, I want to sell my KA1 and KA2 hardcover comic books. I am happy to get rid of them because I didn't really enjoy the story personally. I know someone out there does like it. I can definitely respect that.

Francesca I actually love both pretty much equally. There are a few differences between the two including Big Daddy's actual motivation (which certainly changes the tone of each, I think) and Katie (the girl that Dave likes). I think the changes are good because what worked in the book wouldn't have worked on screen and, in my opinion, vice versa. I love the book and I consider the movie to be one of my all time favourites.

Alex Murphy While I liked the film (the action scenes are really good) the motivations and actions of the characters in the book make much more sense. If you hung around the most popular girl in school lying to her, saying you're gay to get close to her, she wouldn't end up with you. She'd get her boyfriend to beat you up. Also the story of Big Daddy in the book seemed that little bit deeper, especially with the backstory he made up to tell Hit Girl, which was used as the what actually happened in the film. Making a much more deluded, sad character.
