Zoe (zoes_reads) Do any of you guys like to read classics? I do sometimes, and whenever we read them in school, I always enjoy it. I am a big fan of historical fiction as well. Favorite classics? The Great Gatsby, Animal Farm and Anne of Green Gables are a few faves!

I did drama in HS and my favorite classics were always plays. Tennessee Williams was a favorite, A Streetcar Named Desire was my favorite.

Silvia | 89 comments I've read a few clasics. I never read them in school since I don't live in the US but I've tried to read a few on my own. I read "A Tale if Two Cities" recently but mostly because of Will and Tessa =)

:D Cool! I really want to read A Tale of Two Cities, but I only have the ebook version, and I got ten chapters in and I wasn't feeling it. I think its the type of book that you have to have a hard copy of, you know?

message 19: by Emilia (new)

Emilia (doctorherondale) | 75 comments I love classics. Jane Austen novels are my favorite. I especially love Persuasion. Jane Eyre was great too and I loved Animal Farm and 1984. A Brave New World was great too! I didn't like Catcher in the Rye or Wuthering Heights. So I guess, like any book genre, it comes down to the individual book if I like it or not.

Elise (jewessaloover) | 201 comments I love A Tale of Two Cities. The beginning is very slow, but then once you read the rest you realize it was amazing. You can't stop reading it, you have to continue even if you think its slow.

Oh I read the Little Prince! I don't think I actually finished it, but it was really good! By the way, I love your profile pic. Spirited Away is my favorite anime of all time!

message 31: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Um.....Harry Potter is a modern classic....does that count?
I really wanna read the Secret Garden.
And I remember reading the Little Princess when I was young. I don't think I read the original version. It was one of those simpler versions where they put it in modern English. But I liked the story itself.

If you liked The Little Princess, then you will probably like The Secret Garden.

message 33: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Thanks!
I don't know if this counts, but I want to read Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code. ŷ says that the Da Vinci Code is the second book in that series, but do you need to read Angels & Demons to understand Da Vinci code?

Hmmm, I know people who read The Da Vinci Code individually. They never said they had any problem with understanding it, but I've never read it myself.

Kristie | 140 comments Well, I loved A Tale of Two Ciies, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Oliver Twist, Little Women and Pride and Prejudice. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Gulliver's Travels and Jane Eyre were enjoyable. Great Expectations and Wuthering Heights were extremely BORING though. The only character I found remotely interesting in the former was Miss Havisham. The narrator, Pip, himself was extremely dull and (view spoiler)
